just curious, when do people generally ask for the post cards being sent to their chidren? :flower:

I wasn't to sure about that either. I just asked for mine today and we aren't sailing until April 30. I tried to hold out as long as I could! ;)

I figured it may take a while for them to come. I am the one who gets the mail so if I think it's too early for the kids to see them, I'll just hold on to them for a while. When I want them to get them, I'll probably just put them in the mailbox and have the kids get the mail that day.

I don't know if there is a "rule" on the # of days out you should ask for the postcards. I guess someone ese will have more insight on this for us!

You can make a requeat at anytime on the Postcard Thread. When I fill a request, I generally have the postcard out within a few days of the request, unless a specific date is requested. As long as I have enough time, I send the postcards to Shirley and she mails them from her shop so the postcards receive a Florida postmark.

I hope this information helps.

We asked for ours about three weeks before travel...so it arrived about three weeks before travel - Andy is good. Too long and the kids get antsy. Too short and it may miss you if the postcard sender isn't prompt.

BTW, our kids also wrote a letter to Mickey saying they were looking forward to going on his boat. I sent it off to DCL, they sent back a letter from guest services from one of Mickey's friends (a guest services CM) along with an autographed photo of Mickey.

was just curious, that's all. and thanx for the tip about "saving the mail, till it's time". i guess it's better to put in your request a bit ahead, in case you're off on your vacation, and then, it'll be too late. on our last cruise (our very first one), i requested them 2 weeks prior to our trip...and Verandah Man came through for us! (thank you!!) and that's a good idea about writing to dcl. maybe i'll have our 2 DSs do that this time.

as for our post cards...will put in my request a month ahead...unless i just can't stand the wait! hee hee... :flower:
