I'm curious how MS is doing this these days...
I've been a member for 10+ years, now... I think we're a bit "atypical," though... from your average member. We are always in a borrowed state, and we rarely stay more than 3 nights at a time. (We just live an hour away.)
I've had this happen a few times before, but not in the last couple years, and I'm not sure if MS is still accomodating to this situation.
We have 525 points. October use-year.
I have no 2007 points. I have 121 remaining 2008 points. (Like I said - always a borrower.)
Since we live so close, we like to "waste"
our points on long weekends, when the opportunity arises. We aren't picky on which resort we can get for these last-minute trips... But we just don't "plan" these trips.
So... I'd like to "save" these 121 points for a "rainy day," some time between now and 9/30/07.... to "borrow."
But - there's a reservation that I'd like to make now - which falls in my 2008-use-year. It's for early December - which we all know needs to be booked as close to 11-months as possible - to ensure availability.
If I didn't have any 2008 points, I could borrow my 2009 - no problem.
But - if I make the reservation now, and MS makes me use my remaining 2008 points, and I then decide, later, that I want to book - say a weekend in July, 2008 - will they then let me "re-allocate" points from that December reservation, to "free up" some 2008 points which I could borrow for that July reservation - and replace them with some from 2009?
Or... "better-case-scenario" - would they just let me go ahead and borrow 2009 points, and let me leave my 2008 points alone?
In the past.. it would some times depend on the CM you got at MS as to whether or not they'd do this... but I don't know their policy, now.
Any recent experiences?
TIA!
