Since DVC can trade with RCI, a friend suggested I look into a "great escape" package with RCI. Has anyone done, or heard of this? Supposedly I can pay about $250-$350 for a week in a RCI resort. Are we even considered RCI members?

Thanks

nope.

DVC is the "RCI member."

we have access to RCI through DVC, but no ability as individuals to use their discounted rentals...

There are quite a number of benefits DVC members lose by not being direct RCI members including the cash rentals, ability to trade up, direct access (phone/web), etc. However, for most DVC members the trade off of having to pay for yearly RCI dues, a higher exchange fee, loss of the request first option and potentially larger points for a given exchange; make the current setup better overall. For those of us that have other timeshares that we could lump together, those that would take one or more RCI rentals a year and those willing to work the system by up-trading; allowing direct membership would be a better value.
