RCI locations?

Thanks to some great advice to have a cool-down period, I'm about 99% convinced it's best for me to buy resale vs direct. I understand the RCI exchanges are the only ones included with buying non-direct. My question is.... the RCI locations listed in the DVC brochure seem somewhat limited. Once you're a DVC member, do you have access to ALL RCI properties or select ones that DVC has contracted with? RCI is the only exchange I'd be interested in outside of WDW.

DVC World Passport exchange locations thru RCI are available for all DVC owners - resale or direct purchase.

Reportedly, DVC/RCI is now going to open up the exchange opportunity to include all of the RCI options - but only for direct purchase and for those resale purchasers grandfathered in prior to March, 2011 - so current resale buyers will still have access to the RCI program, but possibly not the same comprehensive list as direct buyers. Stay tuned!

Still limited but rumors are that DVC is adding some additional RCI prosperities maybe with resale restrictions.

I look at it this way, buy DVC to stay at DVC prosperities.

DVD/DVC advertises all of these other things that you can do with your points but after you buy direct and you really look into the possibilities, you will find that the availability is limited and/or are expensive compared to paying cash. Plus to further dissuade you, a few years ago they added on a $95 transaction fee.

It's like telling you that the new car you are about to buy can go 0-60 MPH in 5 seconds and that it's top speed is 130 MPH. Most will never need the performance but people buy the car anyway just in case they decide to be a race car driver someday.

They have opened up to MOST of the RCI properties and resale buyers are seeing no current limitations. I'm not seeing how they could reasonable draw a line between the 2. Resale buyers also have access to BVTC though I wouldn't be surprised to see this change.
