My wife and I are looking to do an exchange next year to get to preferably Spain or maybe Italy. We are looking at the 2nd half of next year. We'll take any advice we can get from people who have done either in terms of:
*Locations
*Resort Ratings
*Ease of Process
*Weather
*Must Do's
*Airfare/Airline advice

Thanks. :)

We did the Magic Med cruise in August . We visited both Spain(Barcrlona) and Italy ( Florence Pisa Rome Sorrento Positano and Naples). Weather was warm but not unbearable. Loved the Med weather. Fall is rainy season. Airfare costs $1000 plus per person. Hotels are not as nice as in the US so go for the 4 star resorts at a minimum. Theft is rampant in both countries. Wear a money belt!!!

Good to know. I was not aware of the theft there. We also do not do well with an abundance of heat.

I think it will be very difficult to get an exchange through RCI for what you're looking for. A better plan of attack would be to rent the points you were going to exchange, then take that cash and book something yourself. That way you're not tied to only the resorts that RCI is afficiliated with - and even if they're in RCI that doesn't mean that there will be a room that you can exchange into.

Going the cash option will provide you with much more flexibility, and will likely get you a better deal too.

Good luck,

Chris
