I asked this question about a week ago in the Mousecellaneous board but got no replies so I'm trying again.

Not being really familiar with RCI trades and knowing some of you are, can you give me some insight on my chances of getting a trade into a Sanibel Island resort during Easter Week of 2010? Not totally set on Sanible, we'd consider other places along the Gulf but I am wondering if it's worth my while to try for something during Easter Week using our Disney points.

Thanks,

Deb

Don't know anything about chances - But have you considered renting your points and then renting a condo on Sanibel Island off VRBO or going through Royal Shell or V.I.P rentals

Sanibel Island is so beautiful - we stayed at loggerhead cay condos its off East Gulf Drive - If I could do it again(which we probably will) I'd stay at Pointe Santo condos - its off West Gulf drive - so seeing the sunset is as easy as walking out to your beach(beachfront condo complex) - some of the units on the top floors have a sundeck that you can see both sunset and sunrise.

here is a link to a Sanibel Board

Deb, they're next to nil. Sorry. Most people who own timeshare weeks on Sanibel or Captiva between Christmas and Easter will either use them or rent them out for a good rental income. It's extremely unusual to trade in, even with a power trader. However, with an early ongoing search request, it may be possible to trade into someplace else nice, on the Gulf coast. It's still a year off so it may be worth the try.

I don't know what other options DVC lists with RCI... Longboat Key? Marco Island? Ft Myers? These are not as lush as Sanibel but prime holiday weeks are always toughest anywhere and southwest FL at Easter is one of the hardest trades out there so making your search request as broad as possible may be necessary if you'd really like to spend that week on a southwest FL beach.

I've heard that spring break is the hardest time of year to find anything at Sanibel. It's really hot there in the summer, so it's usually easier to find accomodations in the summer than in the spring.

that's kind of what I thought. Maybe we'll look at other weeks or look to do something else for Easter week if we can possibly get it. Kind of tossing around Hilton Head as well.

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated!

Deb
