Sovereign of the Seas will leave on its next sailing at 8 p.m. local time Tuesday from Port Everglades and will sail a modified itinerary. The ship will make a port call in Nassau, Bahamas on Wednesday and Thursday and return to Port Canaveral on Friday.

Complimentary transfers from Port Canaveral to Port Everglades will be offered.

Guests who sail on this cruise will receive an onboard credit of $250 per stateroom and a certificate for a 50 percent discount on a future Royal Caribbean sailing of seven nights or less, which departs on or before December 15, 2005, excluding holidays. Guests booked on this sailing who cancel their cruise will receive a letter of credit for the amount paid for the cruise portion of their sailing. Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Jeanne, this itinerary is subject to change.

RCCL: No Refund for shortened cruise / $250 stateroom credit / 50% off future cruise
Guests that cancel: Credit towards future cruise
DISNEY: 40% Refund / Not sure about stateroom credit / 25% off future cruise
Guests that cancel: 100% refund

Mariner of the Seas will leave on its next sailing at 8 p.m. local time Tuesday from Miami and sail a modified itinerary. The ship will make port calls in Nassau, Bahamas, on Wednesday; Cozumel, Mexico, on Friday; and return to Port Canaveral on Sunday.

Complimentary transfers from Port Canaveral to the Port of Miami will be offered.

Guests who sail on this cruise will receive an onboard credit of $500 per stateroom and a certificate for a 50 percent discount on a future Royal Caribbean sailing of seven nights or less, which departs on or before December 15, 2005, excluding holidays. Guests booked on this sailing who cancel their cruise will receive a letter of credit for the amount paid for the cruise portion of their sailing. Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Jeanne, this itinerary is subject to change.

RCCL: No Refund for shortened cruise / $500 stateroom credit / 50% off future cruise
Guests that cancel: Credit towards future cruise
DISNEY: 40% Refund / $300 stateroom credit (was $200) / 25% off future cruise
Guests that cancel: 100% refund

Big Differences - no refund for shorter cruises, just stateroom credit and a larger discount for future cruises. Don't like the offer - then cancel and get credit instead of a refund!

Not sure here, but since DCL is more expensive than other cruise lines I don't think that you can compare the percentages off future cruises. The actual amount of the discount will end up being alot closer than it sounds at 25 vs. 50.

It's hard to compare offers ...

No refund on present cruise - RCCL wanted you to go on the shortened cruise and not give you any money back.

But in exchange, gave a large stateroom credit. Great for people that booked cheap rooms, not so good for people that booked more expensive rooms since everyone gets the same.

But they gave a large discount on a future cruise. I agree 50% off a cheaper cruise or 25% off a Disney cruise might be equal dollar wise depending on the situation.

As for refunds, RCCL said sail or get credit for a future cruise. Other lines were willing to give you back your money.

 I thought that I had read that part wrong! I can't believe that they would not give your money back if you couldn't make it to the ship for whatever reason resulting from the hurricane. It sure looks like DCL has been the most generous of all the lines, even though they still wont please everyone.

I have no problem with either offer from either company.

All I'd hope for is that each of the companies keep to the letter of their word that they give the customer, or the customer's travel agent.

Its when a company doesn't keep its word where it becomes disappointing.
