to be colder/rainier than normal in central FL. That's when we'll be there of course. :( How accurate is the almanac anyway? I sure hope they're wrong this time!

Sorry to say that the Farmer's Almanac is pretty accurate. I will be there in Dec also, so I am a little bummed too with this prediction.

We are going to a timeshare on the beach for Christmas week. I did not really think we'd able to swim, but I had hoped for nice sitting on the beach weather (anything over 65 degrees would be nice). What exactly is the prediction?

Look at the bright side! Fewer locals and shorter lines! Few of the rides are really outside and just being at WDW will keep you warm!

I don't care how cold it is - I'm going swimming!

I can't tell you the exact prediction because I didn't buy it--just looked thru it while at the supermarket last night. It gave it's predictions week by week, and if I recall correctly, it seems that the last two weeks of Dec and most of Jan was showing alot of rainy periods, with temps a little below normal--I want to say 50's? I'll have to look again next time I'm at the store.

For those going in Feb and March, it was calling for warmer than normal temps though! I don't remember what it said about rain tho.

St.LouisFan,
I'm with you, I want to swim also. :teeth: Actually it rained the week we were there last year too, :( so two years in a row really stink. :( I know, I know we will be in WDW, so we should be happy. And like you said fewer locals and shorter lines. :D

Waiting for Dec. 13-17 :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

You can all assume that, since I will be there the first three weeks of December, the weather will be AWFUL!!!

We were there last year during the first two weeks of December when it was very rainy and very cold. We've also had hurricanes, tornado warnings, cold snaps (and heat waves) during our WDW vacations. But, we're still at WDW, and still on vacation, and when it's raining and cold I don't have to worry about getting sunburned!

SOOO you're the reason it rained on my trip last year, :p ;) and you will be there when I go this year. ;)
Are you saying that you are bad luck?
Actually we have had it pretty good on all of our other trips, so I can't complain.
:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I personally love it when it rains at WDW. Clears out the big crowds :)

And I don't put much faith in the farmers almanac. You see hwo quickly weather patterns change on your local weather forecast for short periods of time. I've woken up to see many a bright sunny morning when the weather channel told me it would be raining out all day.

Thanks Gail! Copied from their website:

"Winter will be wet and mild overall, with below-normal temperatures in December and January, and above-normal temperatures in February and March. The best chance for a freeze into central Florida is in mid-January, although we don't expect any major damage. Other cold periods will be in early and late December and early January. Stormy weather will occur in the second week of March, with other especially rainy periods in early and late December, early January, and mid- to late February."

Well.........So What ! I will just bring my heavy, zip-up, hooded sweatshirt. That should be enough.

I do hope it will be sunny :sunny: but if it's not......I am still at WDW. I arrive at WDW on Dec 5th:)

Before you lose any sleep worrying about the FA forecast, remember that they also have a section on how to predict the weather using a pig spleen!

Whatever the weather, I know it will be better than St. Louis in January! FA is predicting heavy snow and record cold.

Where is that global warming when you need it?;)

I wouldn't count on what the Farmer's Almanac says.

I looked at the FA also for the end of September when I was planning my trip to the Texas coast - FA said end of September rain, rain and more rain, never rained once while we were there so you can't go on what the FA says.

Have a nice trip and stop worrying!!

LOL St. Louis Fann!

I will not loose any sleep over the predictions of the Farmers Almanac either. Meterology is such a tricky subject that I personally don't put a whole lot of stock in the accuracy of the Farmer's Almanac. Obviously, predicting the weather for the next day is not an exact science yet....how can we predict the conditions several months from now. Don't get mad at me. I'm not trying to argue that the almanac is garbage, I'm simply saying that weather is highly unpredictable and that I'm not going to worry about cold/rainy weather 3 months out.

I agree with kaabost. I dont put a lot of stock in the accuracy of the 5 day forecast, let alone something 2 months away.
However, I had to laugh at ... "Other cold periods will be in early and late December and early January.". Theres going out on a limb. ;)

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either--just thought it would give all of us over-planners and worry-warts something else to think about :p

Last year we were there first weekend of December. The first night it rained like crazy at MK but we were at Epcot where it just drizzled. The second night we were at MVMCP and the HIGH that day was about 52, much colder at night. So we broke out the gloves and had fun. We enjoyed the hot chocolate more than we did in 2001 when it was 70.
This year we are driving so we will have plenty of room for clothes for all kind of weather. Coats, hats, gloves, shorts, ponchos....

Thanks for the link Gail :p

I'll be crossing my fingers for warm weather :sunny: but I'm still going to pack a couple of sweaters and my poncho regardless. I hope they'll post the detailed week by week forecast for December soon :)

Hey..I'll just pack some clothes for BOTH types of weather! It won't bother me at all if it rains...poncho's are where it's at! I hope it' s at least a little dry while we are there though.
