Today is EMH at AK, so we are up at 6am (actually DS gets us up earlier than that each day), get dressed and meet our friends in the lobby at 7am to catch the bus to AK. Boy that is a long ride. Once we get there, the lines are long, thinking real serious about avoiding the EMH parks from now on, but we trudge through. I tried the Rain Forest Cafe entrance but it was not open. First thing, the Safari. Hoofed it all the way back to Africa, checked in the stroller and loaded the safari bus. The safari is by far the best part of AK. Once we got onto the plains area, we had to stop as some animal about 5 buses up was on the path and wouldn't move, but it didn't bother us since we had a giraffe off to the side of our bus just looking at us as if to say, why are you stopping, you have no food for me. After about 5 minutes we are on our way again. The animals are everywhere and most are mobile, except the lion. I guess he really does love that air conditioned rock. We warned our friend of each part that was rough, since she was 5 months pregnant.

After the Safari, we decide to walk the Pangani Forest trail, but the females need a potty break. They head off in search of said potty. After what seemed like an eternity, I went to see who drowned. I find them outside of the restrooms in Africa watching the kids play drums with a CM doing a small show. I snap a few photos and start to head back when he pulls the wives into the show and hands them instruments. He then proceeds to hand about 10 other people some form of instrument and direct them on how to play. So, we have to waituntil the show is over before heading back. Now keep in mind our friend's husband has been waiting the whole time back at the entrance to the trail. When we get back, we can tell he is not happy with having to wait by himself. Oh well, we walk the trail and get a few photos for the scrapbook.

When we finish the trail, we decide we need to make our way towards Camp Mickey Minnie to see the Lion King show. We have some time before the start, so our friends decide to have their son's face painted since today is his 6th B-day. We decide to forego the $12 for fancy makeup and head towards the Lion King show and pop into a shop or two. On the way, DW wants to check out the baby care center just to see what it is like. She comes out saying THAT is the place to work. Air condition, rocking chairs and the works. So all you folks with babys, check it out. While DW is checking out the baby center, I and DD head into the shop next door and find DS a cute fuzzy baby rattle that is shaped like the Mickey Head. Had to have it. When DW returns, DD wants to see what it looks like, so DW takes her in and I tell them I will meet them at the store nea the entrance to CMM. When I walk up, Lilo and Stitch are signing autographs. Man, why did DD have to go see that baby center? Anyway, I get in line and figure that I will let people pass me until DD arrives. I got up until there was only one other person before me and getting ready to let the next group pass when they finally walked up. Whew, another autograph crossed off the list.

Time to meet our friends at the entrance to FOLK. Line moves pretty quick and we are in and seated in the elephant section. Before the show starts, they call all people having a birthday down front and our friend's son gets to go down. Then everyone sings Happy Birthday to them. FoLK is my favorite show, although I haven't seen Tarzan yet (that would change later this week). After FoLK, our friends want to go to DinoLand, so we head that way. Boy it is getting hot out here. On the way over, we stop at the character meet to see Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger while they go on to ride some rides. We really don't care for the rides here as we can ride the exact same rides with a different theme back close to home. After we get the autographs we head over and meet up with our friends, everyone agrees that it is too hot to do anything else, especially since we will be back in two days. So we head over to Beaches and Cream. Our plan is to have the Kitchen Sink for our friend's son's B-day. Well after eatig a meal, we decide to bypass the Sink and head for the WL.

Back at the lodge, DW and DD head to cub's den while I take DS up to the room to cool off. Earlier that morning I had gotten a PS at Whispering Canyon for dinner. Just have to have that Skillet. We meet in the lobby at 5pm and are seated right away. The food there is yummy. We ate more than our fair share. The kids got to ride the pony express. After dinner we decide that we will just have a down night. We spend the evening playing in the arcade and just lounging. Tomorrow is EMH at MGM. Good evening.

Sounds like a perfect birthday day to me - thanks for posting!

Enjoying your reports!

Thanks for including details such as $12 face painting, as I was wondering about this.

The weather did heat up that week didn't it. AK always seems the hottest and this is the park I always wished I had the mister fan with us.

The show with the drums is very cute to watch, and even more fun if you know someone involved.

AK does get pretty hot doesn't it...? I agree about the Hester and Chester and Fester and Lester area... whatever it's called... I try to get through there real fast - it reminds me of carnivals at home.

>>^..^<<

Did you ever actually make it to "Festival of the Lion King"? I still have yet to see it myself! By the way, We did use the Baby Care center at AKL last year. It is AMAZING!

Hi Tim! Was the $12 the max price on the face painting? I'm hoping to do this when we go, too. Also, what did you guys try at BnC? We were thinking about going here for the 1st time...

Thanks for the great reports!:)

$12 was the cheapest face painting. We just had burgers at BnC, were going to have the Kitchen Sink but was too full after lunch.
