Anyone know if there is a rate sheet I can look at, that tells you how many points for other hotels. I have in my book how many points for the deluxe hotels. But if we do this we will start off with only 150 points. So the weekends are going to kill us, so thinking about maybe moving on the weekends. I'm trying to figure out it it would be just cheaper to pay for the rooms with cash, or still apply points(or even half and half).

You will NOT want to use points to stay at any of the non-DVC on-site Disney resorts if your aim is to save/conserve points. Even the moderate hotels are more points per night than the DVC rooms. (Even on weekdays).

Pay cash for your weekend stays. If you are vigilant (and lucky) you will be able to get a discount off rack rates.

Best wishes -

Forgot to tell you that you can use the DVC Points Calculator (link at the top of the page) to calculate points costs. It works for DVC resorts and non-DVC WDW resorts.

If you are already a member, You can find the charts in your Member Guidebook or on the Members' website.

I may be in the minority on this view. But I am staying at AKL concierge on points in August and the number of points required cost me less than the AP code rate with tax. And that is using the AP codes from ealier in the year when they were much better. I don't value the points at retail rental value as I do not wish to bother with renting points to attempt to get that value.

Is that true using a value of $10 pp or more?

FYI, we have a comprehensive list of the 2004/2005 rack rates on the DIS if you're using them for comparison:

We reserved WL in August for $139 plus tax ($150) per night woods view, thats like renting 15 points, I doubt I can stay at WL for 15 points. AKL was $119 (12 points). although I thinks it was called "CEMENT VIEW".

Dean,

I value my points at what I paid for them plus the maintenance fees. I consider DVC a prepaid vacation that provides substantial discounts for lodging. Sort of "Disney Currency" with a fixed exchange rate for DVC resorts and floating exchange rate for others. Sometimes the Disney Currency is the best deal, even against AP codes; sometimes it is not. I found this year's AP codes not as attractive and now the points are looking better than the AP codes. It used to be the reverse.

If I paid $10 or more for my points I would not use points outside of DVC ever. Matter of fact I probably would have not bought into DVC as AP codes would have been too attractive.

Thanks, the value you put on the points is important to evaluate the statement.
