I just booked for December 19 - January 2. I got a terrific rate of 42.00 per night for a partial hook-up. I am paying 54.00 per night for a partial hook-up in August. I thought Christmas and New Years was the most expensive time??

There has already been some discussion on this matter. I don't see any real rhyme or reason to the rates and discounts on the campsites at FW.

Glad you got a good rate over the holidays! We're going in March and again in July (over the holiday) and paying MUCH more in a rather "off" week in March than during July 4th week. I just don't get it.

Just a guess here, but being from NH, I'd definitely expect a discount for partial hookup (tents or popups) sites in Dec. rather than August because it's more likely we'd freeze in Dec. than Aug. Makes perfect sense to me.

It might be a good debate issue as to whether possibly cold weather around the end of the year would be more uncomfortable than hot, muggy, stormy August camping in central Florida. As far as camping at FW is concern, there is no debate, and I think the point is that the Christmas/New Year's period is PEAK, both by Disney's own definition as well as reality. People make reservations far in advance and it is extremely busy, more so than August, yet the poster was able to get a better rate during the peak period.

Value season usually starts sometime in August. If you check in during the regular season, they charge you regular season rates for the whole time you are there. I think your december check-in is during value season, so you get value rates the whole trip. You may want to check when value season starts in August, if your dates are flexible.

Thank you for all the good information. I will start playing with my August dates and see if I can get a better rate.

I am also booked for December 19th thru the 27th. We were going to arrive on the 21st or 22nd but the reservations operator suggested the 19th as that is the last day of the value season that starts after Thanksgiving. Our rate for a full hook up was about $49.00 very reasonable I though. By the time we added the park hopper tickets and insurance we were in the $1,600 range. But I guess 8 days of tickets is pricey. We asked for loop 1800 or 1900 as we have a dog and thought it would be less hectic or at least that’s what we’ve heard.

1800 and 1900 are pretty quiet pet loops. Have fun planning!

I booked a preferred site for Dec. 2nd - Dec. 11th 2004. I was told that they changed this time from value season to "pre-holiday". My rate is $4.00 higher than it would be in value season. Were you able to get value season rates for Dec??

You're right - it is listed as pre-holiday season for the campground; it is value season at all the other resorts! Leave it to Disney to get a few more dollars out of the campers.

Value season in August starts August 8 for the campground.
