Hello,
I am very new to this board and I am trying to plan a extended weekend trip to Universal Orlando in August 2004. As I was looking through some of the previous threads, I recognized that some on-site hotels had discount rates labeled Entertainment and such. What exactly are those and how and where can you get those rates? Do you have to join a club? We would like to stay on-site to endulge in the amentities, but our group is somewhat large and the rack rate for two rooms at the Royal Pacific is very expensive. Any feed back and help is appreciated. Thank you.

Entertainment book offers a discount and you would need to buy one online at entertaiment.com. The card that comes with the book is required at check-in. Any cities book will do as the cards are all the same.

FLO = Florida resident. This discount is usually the best. I see you are from Georgia. The discount is good for both Florida and Georiga residents. Rooms at RPR can be as low as $119 with this discount.

APH = Annual Passholder. Usually around the same as FLO and a very good discount.

FAN = Universal Fan Club. I'm not very familiar with this one. The discount is usually pretty good.

AAA discounts are usually the least but sometimes any discount is great!

You can check for these discounted rates online at universalorlando.com or loewshotels.com by typing in the three letter codes in the promotional code field. You can also call 1-800-BEASTAR. You have to call for the Entertainment Book discount.

Another discount that I saw recently was Military?
I know Loews South Beach has AARP and government rates.
The entertainment book rates were better than APH last fall but I think APH is the best now.
Its best to check them all because I once got RPR for $5 less with FAN over FLO or APH. The ressie operator said she has seen that a couple of times but didn't know why.

Wow, the response on this board is quick and informative. I have been to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure many times before, but this is the first time we are attempting to stay on-site. I will look into all the options for discounts mentioned above and I will post what I can find. Thank you for all the information!
