Would anyone happen to know where the Ratatouille Lightening Lane brings you into the ride line? Does it just bypass the outside line? The indoor line still seems kind of long after you enter the building, if it just drops you there. Does it bring you any further in line than just the entrance you can see from the outside? Thank you!

No you bypass most the inside line. It's a hallway but it moves very fast. I think we merge right before you get your glasses. At a couple points you can see through windows to the standby line scenes.

You bypass basically the entire line. While standby enters on the right side of the building, LL enters on the left and you just go through a usually empty hallway that takes you right up to the merge point which is where you get your glasses and are shortly assigned a row number

You bypass all the outside and most of the inside. You go into a hallway which leads to the 3D glasses then a short hall before sent either right or left to the ride vehicles.

LL also bypasses some photo ops like the big Gasteau sign.

Sounds like you miss all/most of the queue theming. Should a first time rider opt for the standby line at an opportune time?

You do miss a decent amount of the experience. I think from LL you can a technically see the Guateau’s sign but nothing under it. If you have early entry AND can get in at the IG park entrance in plenty of time (the one really close to the ride) and your legs go fast enough that’s one way to get a short wait. Honestly though most people go there first and what I’ve noticed in the past is the wait can be super long at park opening but then it dies down after an hour or two but then once noon-ish hits it gets really long and that line is MISERABLE to wait in in the hot sun. Another option is to do it at park closing. You’ll miss Harmonious but probably only wait like 20 minutes. Also if it breaks down at any point AND they clear out the line, if you’re lucky enough to catch it RIGHT when it reopens you could have a very short wait. However there’s not really a way of knowing how long a breakdown will be and even if the line appears fairly short, it’s gonna take a lot longer than normal to get on because lightning lane will get very backed up especially if the breakdown was really long
