For collectors of Walt Disney World memorabilia, the original map of Disney World that was part of the premier decor in the rooms of the Poly and Contemp, is the "Holy Grail"! Now for the first time, it has been reproduced, and is much more affordable to to own this incredible art.

Each room at the Contemp and Poly had this map in every room- it was printed on masonite, and measured about 4 feet by 5 feet. In the mid 80's when the rooms were rehabed, the maps were ripped of the walls, and thrown into a pile and sold off to cast members as scrap masonite. Most were destroyed or badly damaged, and only a few survive today at prices most collectors cannot afford.

Urban "Disney Legend" says that Walt had this artwork hanging over his hospital bed during his final days. It was his dream come true...

Although the reprint is a bit smaller than the original, it would be much easier to ship, stretch and frame. For those of us that remember the first years of Disney World, this image is almost sacred. It shows the "original dream" of the Venetien, Persian and Asian Hotels that were never built, and their planned locations.

I post this as an alert to anyone out there who may be a collector of early park stuff, like me. I cannot vouch for the quality of the reprint, the reliability of the seller, or anything else. I have no connection or previous knowledge of this seller. But if I didn't own an original, I'd jump at the chance to have this very early Disney World art in my home!

Search eBay... "Disney Wall Map" and follow links to the sellers site.

Thanks so much for the heads up on this item. There is one of these prints (that is an original I am assuming) hanging near the bathrooms in the Comedy Warehouse on Pleasure Island. I love the print and really enjoy looking at the original plans which included things that were never realized!

I remember those maps well. I was sad to see them go.

Sometime when my DD has a few spare moments, I will get her to post a photo of the rarest piece of my WDW collection: The Walt Disney World Theme Park Site Plan dated 3-16-70. This date is significant because the actual work on the park began less than two months later.

This is the construction site plan with all of the Magic Kingdom buildings colored in and the attractions listed by each land. Some of what's listed was never completed or were called something else by the time the park opened.

Thanks for the info, I too am a Disney collector, Early stuff and actual park items. and a original one of these would be amazing.
