Raptor Encounter at Universal's Islands of Adventure

The Raptor is a person disguised (puppet) or an animatronic? or a mixture of both?

Can you just watch this if you don't want a picture or a movie of it? I would just like to observe. Can you do that?

Yes you can see perfectly fine from the exit area.

Sweet! I thought they were all animatronics controlled by someone (like RC cars) kinda like the fountain in the Lost Continent.
But now, all I can picture is a guy in a Barney suit, strutting around for a photo op!

You can see in the red circle the TM's legs between the raptors legs. I also believe he controls his leg movements with his arms and the head and neck are controled from behind the scenes.

Was just there this weekend.

From what I can tell - who ever is controlling the head is not that in sync with the guy walking around. We went up to get a picture and the head / top body was busy looking out the side.

The cast member taking our picture said "hang on...we have to wait until he looks this way again" (or something like that).

It was kind of cool - but the lines / holding area seemed kind of long (we went back at the end of the day)

It's a full body puppet, no remote animatronics. The performers are improving every day!

Check times on when this is available. We were there at 10 am and again at 7 pm and both times it was closed. CM told us it did not open until 11, and I am not sure when it closes, but we missed it both times we tried.
