Most days, I love my job. And I know I get paid to answer dumb questions, but I seem to be getting more than usual today. For example:
Yesterday, I quoted an airfare for travel next week from Boston to Hayden, CO. The fare was $370 or so. I advised the caller that fares are subject to change at anytime and I couldn't guarantee this price if she didn't buy it right away. She said she wasn't ready yet, and that she'd call back.
Today, she calls back and the fare jumped to $740 overnight for the exact same flights and dates.
"What do you mean it went up?"
"As I advised you yesterday, fares are subject to change at anytime, and ufortunatly, the lower fare I quoted you yesterday is no longer available."
"Yes, I remember you saying that, but I didn't think it would actually go up!"
I quoted her some lower fares on other airlines (still higher than yesterday but better than what she originally wanted) and she said she'd call back.
My other call from today went like this:
"I'd like the latest flight from Houston to Boston on X date on Continental"
"The last flight of the day on Continental is at 7:20 PM"
"Do you have anything later?"
Then the SAME caller asks this:
"For the return, I'd like the earliest flight Saturday morning."
"The first flight of the day is at 6:20 AM"
"Do you have anything around noon?"
That's it, I give up!
Why do people call me if the aren't going to listen to what I tell them?
