Just for fun! I looked for a similar thread but didn't see anything recent. :) I haven't stayed in all of them, so some of this is conjecture, but I am interested to see how everyone else ranks things. January is our first stay at Beach Club so I am looking forward to seeing how it might change these rankings!

I'll go first:

1. Wilderness Lodge (villas, at Christmastime)
2. Animal Kingdom Lodge and Polynesian (tied)
3. Contemporary (Bay Lake Tower)
4. Beach Club (first stay in 80 days)
5. Grand Floridian (have not stayed there)
6. Yacht Club
7. Boardwalk

Your turn!

OK I'm game! My ratings are based on hotels I've stayed at only along with what I liked about the resort... Here goes:

1. Beach Club( SAB is tops for summer vacation no competition, Walk to Epcot is priceless. Great room refurb)
2. Grand Floridian ( beautiful luxury resort lovely rooms and grounds, one monorail stop from MK)
3. Poly ( best view from standard rooms, good food options, watching wishes and EWP from pool )
4. WL( best for Stay during winter months top pic for a Christmas vacation)
5. AKL( theme is wonderful but worth it to me only if you have Savannah view room)
6. CR ( large rooms great views)
7. OKW ( large homey rooms)

Next!

I will only rank the ones we stayed at.
GF (Especially at Christmas, very nice rooms and grounds, great location, live music in lobby and restaurants)
AKL (Savannah view, most unique resort, great lobby)
CR (Very 1st resort I stayed at, walk to MK, monorail through the building)
BWV (Rooms just ok, but really like the boardwalk theme and closeness to EPCOT)
.
.
.
POLY (Location)

1) Wilderness Lodge
2) Animal Kingdom Lodge
3) Grand Floridian
4) Poly (Was #1 before they wrecked it).
5) Yacht Club
6) Beach Club
7) Boardwalk
8) Contemporary

ETA: didn't include OKW & SSR as they are DVC only resorts.

I've only stayed at the poly and BC. The Bc was my bucket list resort and it lived up to the hype.

It's my #1 deluxe.

Mine too!! I just had my first visit there this past August and absolutely loved it. Previously thought nothing could top the MK resorts but BC proved that to be a wrong assumption.

I want to try other resorts but will probably always split stay with BC. It was amazing!

I've stayed at all except Yacht Club and Contemporary. All DVC except SSR.

Deluxe:
Grand Floridian
Beach Club
Boardwalk
AK
WL
Poly

DVC:

Boardwalk (my home resort!) - nothing beats a boardwalk view!
Grand Floridian
Beach Club
Poly - first time this year, great location
BLT - studios small but great location
OKW
VWL - felt detached

Of the ones I've stayed at:

Boardwalk
AKL
Yacht Club
Wilderness Lodge
Poly

I stayed at Contemporary as a kid, but that is back in the 80's so my memory isn't good enough to compare. All the ones above, I have stayed since 2012.

I haven't stayed in all of them, but in order of which ones appeal to me most…

1. The Contemporary
2. The Polynesian
3. Beach Club
4. Grand Floridian
5. Boardwalk
6. Yacht Club
7. Animal Kingdom Lodge
8. Wilderness Lodge

1. Poly
2. GF
3. CR
4. BC
5. BWI
6. YC
7. AKL
8. WL

The first three are pretty much a tie for first place.

Essentially, our preference runs MK resorts first, Epcot resorts second, AKL third and WL last. What is wrong with WL? Answer: absolutely nothing! We love WL! But it doesn't have a WOW factor for us, perhaps because we are from the north and the theming is ordinary and everyday for us. Beautiful, but too much like what we see when we go about our day to day lives. We want to see something different from home when on holiday.

This tread is really interesting because it shows for the most part it comes down to person preference.

I've stayed at YC, and AKL. Plus SSR.

Will be staying at GF, Poly Villas and BLT in 90 days.

I think between the two technical deluxe resorts I've stayed at it would be hard to name a favorite. Depends on the mood of the trip. Are we going for the marathon or to relax and escape? I guess my point is all the deluxes are fabulous for their own reason based on your touring style, trip type, and personal preference.

To say GF is the best because it's typically the most expensive is not going to be accurate for everyone.

I look forward to trying to rank them when I return in January!!

All DVC rooms (except YC)
1) Grand Californian (I didn't see a WDW qualification ;) )
T2) YC/BCV
T2) Poly
4) AKV
5) BWV
6) BLT
7) SSR
8) VWL
9) OKW

1) Poly
2) BWI
3) BC
4) CR
5) GF too pricey though
6) AKL nice but inconvenient location
7) WL I'll get here one day
8) YC never been, but I think I'd choose BC or BWI unless the price diff was a lot

Only the ones I've stayed at:

1. YC
2. BC
3. BW (I've only stayed in DVC studios there)
(the three above are because of location, location, location. We are Epcot/HS fans. I love the look and feel of YC over BC just because my kid is grown now)
4. AKV (I've only stayed in DVC 1 bedroom there but loved the whole look and feel of the resort)
5. GF
6. Poly
7. OKW (I know it's DVC but you can stay there without being DVC, all my DVC stays except this one were through Disney as a resort stay)
8. CR (I'll only stay here if I can't get anything else).

The only way I'd stay at a MK resort now is if I couldn't get an Epcot resort for my entire stay and was doing a split stay. We stayed at them when they were the only game in town but I'm not fond of having to depend on the monorail to get to Epcot. We only do MK as a half day park, 3/4 at most.
