I'm so sad!

I called Randy Chapman about two months ago to book our wedding/engagement session for April 1st, 2008. He was available and we discussed the days itinerary and where he would be, and when, what kind of shots etc. I was so excited!

Now, my dad is paying for the photography, which he offered to do. So, I filled out the nessesary forms, then gave the credit card ones to my dad and he was going to finish filling them out and send them. That was May 16th--now, just two days ago I found out that he forgot to send them!!! They were still in his car. Now, as most of you know he fills up so quickly and I'm fearful that he will no longer be available for our date.

I just e-mailed him explaining the situation etc. and told him that I PERSONALLY will send everything asap--if he is still available.

Does anyone know if he pencils you in asap once you've hammered out the details--or do they wait until the first payment has been recieved?

Thanks for any infomation and I'm sorry for whining.

Maggie

You should probobly be alright. Id say that he is still hoping to get your payment in the mail but you are pencilled in on the calander. I might be wrong in that-- but I would say you are probobly going to be alright. Just try and call the studio tomorrow (Linda might be there or she may have the lines forwarded) and see if she can help you. GL!:goodvibes

Randy kept us penciled in for a few weeks. We had a situation where we had wanted him to cover our entire wedding day but he already had a DP scheduled. He penciled us in until we heard back from DPS to see if they could cover only the DP while he did the rest of the day. This all happened during Christmas so it took awhile to get it sorted out but he still kept our date secured for us. I would say that if you discussed seriously booking him (with him) for your wedding date that you are in fact holding the date. Once he starts to wonder if your plans changed because he did not receive anything he would contact you first (at least that's what he did with us). Good luck! I hope it works out :goodvibes.

Thank you for the reassurance ladies. I hope you both are right. We did discuss a lot of detail about the wedding and type of shots. I couldn't seem him just scratching it out, without calling. But then again, it would be my responsibility to make sure the payment got there--not his!!! :cool2:

I hope its okay.

Maggie

It was about three weeks before I could send in my deposit and he kept me penciled in the whole time.

I would say that, knowing Randy, he would be pretty good about it. The main risk is if he took another booking for that date since you last contacted him.

I am also a professional wedding photographer and when I receive enquiries, I do like to make a note on that day in the diary. If it were me, I would have probably emailed you if someone else wanted to book the date, just to check you still wanted to go ahead.

The only thing I would say is that if you haven't paid a retainer, then the day isn't secure. Randy is a good guy though, so am sure he would let you know if there were a problem.

Fingers crossed for you, he is awesome !

If you can, call the studio tomorrow and see if you can get ahold of Linda. I found sometimes it takes more of a phone call to get the reassurance I needed.

Like Jonette said I would call and speak to Linda- she runs the office. Randy had us pencilled in for months so you should be ok!
