I think maybe I'm being a worry wort, but we're planning our frist trip with kids and I'm concerned that the pool at the BC might be an issue with the kids trying to eat the sand. Has this happened to anyone?

We LOVE the BC and really want to stay there, but I'm considering changing to the Poly if the pool is going to be more work than fun. Do you think toddlers (17 months) will try to eat the sand or just have fun playing with it?

Thanks!

I have 2 kids who have survived eating sand ....that being said....I think they wil;l be at the age where they are more inclined to play with the sand than eat it.

There are kiddie pools at the BC without sand. Plus it not like normal beach sand, it's grittier, not as fine as you might think.

I had a sand eater! She survived - freaked me out but after a while it just made me laugh.

I live on Long Island, where thousands of people head to the beach each summer day.

Every kid who tries it survives eating sand; it probably doesn't taste good enough for anyone to eat enough to do any harm.

Everyone's gonna eat a peck before they die, she's just gettin' a head start!:lmao: :lmao:

Don't worryabout it, they'll be just fine. The only time I ever worried about it was up in Maine where the beach is right by the road, and some totally neurotic mother told me that because there used to be lead in gas, the exhaust from all those years contaminated the sand with lead. Then I remembered that that was where we vacationed every year for my entire childhood and I'm perfectly OK!!

Notice I didn't say I was normal.....but that's another topic.:rolleyes1

My twins were total sand eaters at that age. I would pull one kid's hands away from their mouth and the other kid would have his in his mouth before I could get back to him. Going to the beach was a nightmare! Eventually I would just give up, but other people thought we were terrible parents when they saw my kids eating sand. I would avoid the beach and opt for a pool!

My daughter was 17 months on her first trip to WDW and we stayed at the Beach Club. She had no interest in eating the sand. I wouldn't change to the Poly. I don't think you'll have any problems with the sand. Have fun!
