We want to see Fantasmic on our upcoming trip but just really can't settle on how to go about that. I have reservations for the RDL package, but the menu is just not grabbing either of us. I know it's a flat price, but will they allow you to substitute another option (something less expensive, but still pay the package price)?

Like a different entree? That I haven’t heard anyone do. They will substitute more of one side can the other.

Yes, I'm looking to substitute an entree. Like some tacos or something.

Since they serve from different sides for the packages I am not sure that is possible. Hopefully someone with experience will pop in and know for sure.

They did not allow me any substitutions, even with a food intolerance.

I’m shocked Disney would knowingly serve you food you told them you were allergic to. I hope you complained after. Reasonable substitutions should be allowed in cases of food allergies…
It wasn’t a food allergy, and I just had them leave it off the plate as it was one of the sides.

Just need to point out an intolerance is different than a food allergy. I am intolerant to something in muffins at a local bakery but I could totally eat them, as long as a I am close to a restroom. But do agree it is strange they would not have an allergy friendly option.

OK, in case we go ahead with this anyway. What's everyone's favorite from the package choices and does anyone have photos?

I have tried multiple items from this package. I have honestly enjoyed everything very much!

Rice is very heavy on cilantro (in case you don’t like that).

Beans delicious.

Potato salad DELICIOUS and oddly refreshing! I thought this sounded weird but I love it.

We’ve sampled the potato tacos (tasty and not spicy, carne asada (awesome!) and shrimp tacos (sooooooo tasty but very spicy!). Cake is basic yet very tasty. Raspberry filling is my guess.

In the photos my son didn’t want any of the sides touching the carne asada.

Thanks for that! I'm leaning toward giving it a go. I'll be fine with the carne asada. Not sure what my daughter would like though. Were those the potato tacos? How were they?

Had an interesting call from Disney Special Diet CM today, prior to our arrival on Thursday. He was basically following upon my requests for WOC but I asked him about RDZ and he said to tell the CMs out front that I needed to speak with the chef. He said the chef could make recommendations or accommodations as needed. I have numerous food sensitivities that make it nearly impossible to eat anything pre-prepared. So I'm hopeful maybe he can find/fix something that might not contain onion, garlic or cilantro...pretty much staples in Mexican cuisine.

I was just shocked to receive the call. So we will see what happens...
Maybe I will just end up with chips and cake! 🤣😂

Are you aware of what happened to Dominique Brown? I think everyone has a heightened awareness right now.

And that is a good thing...CONSTANT VIGILANCE as Mad-Eye would tell us. Thankfully, i have no life-threatening allergies, if I did, I wouldnt eat anything in public. As it is, I have many sensitivities and intolerances that only result in me feeling poorly. So I simply stick to what I know....bacongoudas at SB, beignets (plain), perhaps a Mickey pretzel (plain) and thats it for Disney food! Oh, sourdough bread from Boudin! Gonna take some of that home this time!

And I used to LOVE blue cotton candy, but I cant handle the sugar anymore!

So I really doubt we will eat at RDZ, regardless of what the chef might offer. I'm happy to pay the price for a premium view of the show. Same for WOC. Just want to see the Christmas show...

I thought the taco was good! It’s a crispy taco shell and the filing is like a seasoned mashed potatoes that are maybe pan fried. Maybe a little bland but great for a kid. I added hot sauce to mine lol.
