What is the difference in walking distance/time between the HoJo and Ramada? We have our hotels narrowed down to these two and I'm curious about the true distance/walking time since we'll have our 5 year old with us.

Ramada maybe a minute or two closer but we had a very bad experience at Ramada and will never stay there again. HoJo is great btw.

Ramada is great ! Its a 5 minute quicker walk and an easier walk too .

We had an absolute ball at the Ramada compared to HoJos and would always stay here as a preference

I don't think the Ramada is a 2 minute walk. LOL For us HoJo is about 7 min, at night when we are tired from walking all day it might take us 9 or even 10 but it's usually about the same. We have not stayed at the Ramada BUT we did stay at the Anaheim Plaza which is across the street from the Ramada and it took us the same amount of time to walk from the AP as it does from the HoJo, both were 7 min. The AP takes a little longer because you have to wait for 1 more light/crossing signal. :) I would guess the Ramada is about a 5 minute walk, maybe 4. :)

It's really not much difference in terms of distance, but you''ll be much better off at Hojo. Trust me. No comparison. Hojo is by far much better.

Both Hojo and Ramada Maingate are similar distances walking from Disneyland. You can be in the resort in less than 5 minutes.

The reason we adore the Ramada is that the service is the best!! :) The employees genuinely care about your happiness, where other hotels (like HoJo) could care less. Also, the Ramada is in the center of the resort, where HoJo is at the North end where the freeway is the main attraction. We have found the best value to always be the Ramada. They are always at or below HoJo price and the experience is much better in my opinion

I disagree 10000000000000000% that the HoJo does not care, we've stayed at the HoJo many many times (probably 8-10) and the employees care very much about our comfort. I can't compare to the Ramada but I really find the comment that the HoJo employees don't care to be 100% incorrect.

Ditto! I have had nothing but stellar service at the HoJo. They are very customer service oriented. Lorealle, a manager at the HoJo, even visits this board frequently to ensure that accurate information is being posted about the HoJo and their accommodations, amenities and rates and to address customer service questions or issues.

I don't believe Ramada ever offers rates lower than the Ent. Rates that are offered at the HoJo, and I know doesn't offer a 15% discount just for being a DisBoard fan.

according to the unofficial guide to DL, the HOJO is 10:15 minutes, and the Ramada Maingate is 8:20 minutes. HTH!

I wonder how the UOG got those numbers, it's never taken us 10:15 min. from the Hojo. lol

From room to front gate its easily that maybe a minute or two longer.

Picture the crosswalk , Ramada is 70-80 metres from the cross walk , HoJos is about 300-400 metres . In the morning no probs but at night when your tired etc I know where I would rather crash and there is also a slight uphill to HoJos too to deal with .

They are both close enough but Ramada is definitly closer

Well I hate to argue with you but I disagree. It has never taken us over 7 minutes to get from our room to the security gates. We don't time past the security gates because it doesn't make sense to do so but it rarely takes us 3 minutes to get thru security. And we've stayed in every bldg the HoJo has to offer and still not more then a 7 min. walk. And the slight uphill? I had to think really hard to figure that out. LOL The upgrade is so gradual that it really makes no difference at all. I know where the hotels are, I've stayed in the HoJo a number of times and in Oct. we stayed at the Anaheim Plaza which is across the street from the Ramada, it took us 7 min. to walk from the AP and that was door to security check too. I assume the Ramada would be a couple minutes less because you don't have to cross the street right away, you can just walk down Harbor and cross with everyone else.

I'm not saying Ramada isn't closer, I'm saying the walk isn't that much different. Apparently my family walks faster then yours does.

also, if you read my first post it clearly states my thoughts on the walking time, which I've basically restated here. :)

The walk from Hojos is faster if you cross over Harbor right outside Hojo and then walk down the DLR side of Harbor. Much fewer people/crowds and then you can short-cut thru the DL bus lanes, (which always seemed empty when we walked thru). We timed it several times in April and it was always 8 mins from Hojo's lobby to DL security going that route.

If you walked past Mimi's, Millie's etc on the other side of Harbor, and didn't cross until the main crosswalk, then it would be closer to 10 mins I guess.

Our kids were 6 and 9 - and even at midnight the walk wasn't overly taxing for them - though they do walk 10 mins to school most days, so that probably helps!

We have stayed at both and found that the two are very similar in distance to the gates. We really liked HOJOs last October. We cut across Mimi's parking lot and FFI parking lot and then walk down the sidewalk to the crossing or we walk on the Disney side of Harbor and cut across the taxi lanes/bus lanes.

Now you got me confused Pixie :goodvibes In your earlier post it said you might take 9 or even 10 minutes from HoJos at night which is basically the same as what I wrote ;)

Anyway as I pointed out they are both more than close enough to satisfy even the most fastidious

It's all good !

Apparently my family walks faster then yours does.

I doubt it !! :rotfl2:

If you're going in warm weather, HoJo's water park is a blast for the kids. Also, there is a McDonald's halfway between HoJo's and the signal/crosswalk to DLR.
