Ramada maingate vs springhill suites convention center

Help! We are 3 weeks away and i am indecisive about where to stay. We are used to staying onsite so i thought springhill would be better since it's an actual "hotel" not motel with nicer rooms and amenities and more similar to what we are used to between the two. But now i am freaking out that it is too far of a walk compared to the ramada. Help me stop agonizing over this decision. Where should i stay?

Honestly I would choose Springhill in a second over Ramada Maingate. I'm not sure what rates are for you but I feel the Ramada is way overpriced even for the location. The walk isn't that far overall but it looks like there is an ART stop very close.
Per google maps it's about a 10 minute walk to Best Western park Place Inn ( used as a map point for the crosswalk). Springhill gets some great reviews online and it's a much newer property. Unless there's a really good deal at Ramada i'd choose Springhill personally.

Also I highly recommend Candy Cane Inn if there are rooms available. Great place , free shuttle , great expanded complimentary continental breakfast and free parking and walkable also.

Thanks for your help Astylla. The springhill definitely gets better reviews, and just a way better place all around. i just got a little panicky today after i google mapped the difference between the two hotels and it was 8 minutes. That's a lot of extra walking! I really don't want to use ART so walking distance is an important factor. I guess I have to decide what is more important; distance or quality of hotel. Man i hate making decisions!!!!

How many days are you going for ? How many adults/kids and ages ? Doyou plan to take breaks daily or use the pool ?

If it's more important to get to the room faster Ramada maingate might edge it out.
If you feel you may want a more relaxing room or more space I think Springhill might win out.

If it matters Ramada Maingate has exterior hallways versus Springhill.

Try not to stress but you can always book direct with a refundable rate ( most don't require a deposit - even some through Expedia have better rates with no deposit needed) and then you can weigh it all out.
Only you know what is best for your family so there is no wrong or right

we stayed at the Ramada Main Gate a year ago and it was very nice. The whole place is nicely kept and the pool almost obsessively so.
We had a problem with a stinky AC and it was replaced immediately. I would recommend it to anyone.
They are a bit farther from the park. For reference, we timed our walk from the turnstiles to BWPPI and it was 5 minutes. Ramada is probably another 3 mins.

Here's another vote for Ramada Maingate. We stayed there in August. It was by far my favorite hotel experience across the street. We generally stay at nicer hotels (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Wyndam are on our roster of preferred hotels in the area) but the Ramada was a great stay for us and I'd go back in a heartbeat (pending reasonable prices.) And as mentioned by a PP, the pool area is very nice.

I'm glad to hear such good feedback from it as when we return it might be an option well in advance.

I just can't justify paying $180 - $190 a night even for proximity.

Wow, I wouldn't pay that much either. The most I've paid for Ramada Maingate is $109 a night! Maybe because I always book so far in advance? I never pay that much for any hotel!!!

Yeah I wouldn't pay that much either. And now that I have been checking their rates, they do fluctuate widely. We got a Superior Room for $74, midweek August, and that was booking only a 2 days ahead. If you can get a rate around $100 it's definitely worth trying them out.

Thanks everyone. I actually already have both booked, just trying to decide which one to cancel. The Ramada rate is $123 plus tax. My concern is that a lot of reviews lately have complained about the rooms being a little rundown, and service not being as good since construction has been going on. I also read reviews about bugs such as ants and cockroaches, yuck! Anyone encounter anything like this?

Our room had been remodeled so definitely not rundown. No bugs of any sort and not a hotel that gave you a "buggy" feeling. The heavy construction was done when we visited so aside from there be no real lobby to check in there was no impact on our stay. There are a lot of positive reviews of the place here on Dis. I don't think any of us who have commented on this thread would recommend it if we had problems such as mentioned above.
