Ramada Maingate Parking?

I have a reservation at the Ramada Inn Maingate and I was wondering what the parking was like there with all the construction going on? We are driving in from NC and I have a great rate there but I am really worried about the parking. Thanks for any help.

We stayed there in October and there was some construction happening. It did not interfere with parking (don't know if current construction will). But the lot was small and parking was tight, as it seems to be with most properties on Harbor. I'd call and check with them and see what they say!

We stayed there May 15-17, and parking was pretty bad. We waited awhile in our car for the the workers to move their truck lift just so we could drive out! There was construction going on outside our room throughout the day, but we only came back to change so it did not bother us too much.

I'm staying in July and they told me if we cannot find a spot that they will come out and find us a place to park.

I just left there yesterday, and I should think you will not experience much of a parking problem. They just finished pouring a new concrete walkway for the 'left' side building (as you look in from the front) on Thursday, and are in the midst of applying stucco to the buildings on the right hand side. All of the parking spots that run along side and behind the pool area remain open as well as the ones against the refurbished rear building. There are still Atco trailers taking spaces up for the rooms towards the front near Tony Roma's.

We were there with a rental car from the 17th until yesterday, and never were without a spot. Just as a head's up, your car might end up dusty from all of the construction work. The staff there were really good and would tape notices to the room doors daily to provide any information about pending parking closures, plumbing work, or other items that may affect your stay.

Hope that helps!

Awesome!! Thank you!! I'm more worried about my dads car because he's super particular about where he parks and keeps his car looking like brand new. :) we are staying in a suite in the new building so hoping to find parking over there.

Thanks so much for everyone's help. I am feeling a little less stressed about staying there now. One more question for those of you who just stayed there recently what was your impressions of the place? Was it clean and comfortable? Thanks again for all the replies.

We stayed there in October, so fairly recent. It was clean enough. The room felt a little dingy to me and we did see some bugs (NOT bed bugs, just a couple random bugs that made their way from the outside). The bedding was clean. I did not think it was comfortable at all. The beds were extremely hard for my liking, but I have had 4 back surgeries and I am particular about the beds. Overall it was fine for the night that we stayed and we got a great rate so I could not complain, but we would not return again. We did not stay in one of the renovated rooms.
I'll add that I read more positive reviews about this place than negative, so I think my experience was more our problem and not really the hotels problem, if that makes sense!

Let me ask you this we are looking at the Candy Cane and we can get that one for $300 more over the 9 nights. Would you stay at the Candy Cane instead of the Ramada or would the $300 dollar difference make you stay at the Ramada. My husband is all about saving the difference, but I am all about comfort and the place being clean. We are going to be on the road for 15 days total and 9 of those being in Anaheim. Anaheim will be where we recharge before heading back across the country. Thanks again for the help.

We stayed in March for two nights in a Superior room. We found the room to be be clean and well appointed (mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker) . We also did not have a problem finding parking, even on the day we checked out..there wasn't an issue keeping our car on the lot until we finished our day at Disneyland.

What category of rooms are you comparing? IMO the superior rooms at the Ramada look nicer than the pictures I have seen of the standard rooms at the Candy Cane Inn. Not to mention, the newer wing at the Ramada where Superior room are do not seem to be affected by construction.

Not to mention, the Ramada is a lot closer to the main gate of Disneyland/DCA entrance. I would guess that Candy Cane Inn would be an extra 5 minute walk.

I agree. I've stayed in the new superior rooms in the new building and would pick that room over CCI. Breakfast is better at CCI but $300 can buy a lot of breakfast. We always pick the new building at ramada if we can. It's really nice. In my experience ramada and CCI are both really clean.

It is the deluxe room at both locations.

Hands down I would stay at Candy Cane Inn. CCI is usually a little pricier than other motels on Harbor but for us the peace of mind, knowing that we are staying in a clean, comfortable and well maintained property is priceless! The only times that we have not stayed at CCI is when they are booked and we have no choice but to go elsewhere. We even try to book trips around availability there, if we can. I also don't think I mentioned previously that we think CCI is far superior with their continental breakfast and their staff. Can't say enough good things about them!

I just stayed there Friday, and the room was a standard clean motel room. I did not like the air conditioner however; it did not cool the room down adequately and it wasn't too hot outside. The air conditioner may have been a fluke, and you can't beat the location!

We stayed in a King room w/jacuzzi tub in the newer building, and had a friend staying in the older non-updated building near the Atco trailers by Tony Roma's. Our rooms were clean and we had no issues with either. The pillows were 'meh', but that didn't kill the entire trip for us. We've stayed at a few of the hotels along S.Harbour, and FWIW they do not differ greatly from one another unless the wall art or wallpaper really makes your stay...The updated Ramada rooms are just a notch above the BWAI next door in 'style' and the non-updated were about on par with each other.

Distance-wise the differences are negligible for most any hotel along the strip - I hoofed it back to grab a jacket, and 'walking with purpose' made it from the DL Hub back to my room in the far corner of the Ramada in about ten minutes carving through a crowd index of 85. You will spend almost as much time waiting for the pedestrian lights at S. Harbour to change ;)

We've always looked at the rooms as merely 'rack space', since most waking hours are at the Parks or just being out and about. For us, it usually comes down to pricing, since realistically you are paying almost $20 an hour to sleep (and when your eyes are closed you don't really notice a poor color choice in draperies). We've traveled both with and without kids, and the free breakfasts have never really been factored into our hotel decisions - there are always better options available - unless you are into plunging into chaos just to get toast or a waffle :) $300 would go a long way at Denny's or Mimi's, and provide a nicer 'sit down meal' with far less jockeying between frenzied folks trying to snag that last banana muffin :) Or you could buy 75 churros!

Cheers,

You know I just have to say that you all are great. I am still torn but all of you have given me your opinions and told me what you have experienced and I Thank You so much for this. I am going to have my husband read what all has been said and then we will make a decision. I would really like to save the money I just want to make sure we will be comfortable for the 9 nights. That is my main concern. Again thank you to all you wonderful people who have been nice enough to post with your experiences. :worship:

I'm happy to have been able to help! This board is great for that! In the end, whatever you chose you'll have an amazing trip!!

May I piggyback a question on this thread?

How long does it take to walk from the lobby of this hotel to DL park entrance?
From various maps I'm looking at it shows approx the same distance as Fairfield Inn but on the opposite side.
But if I google map it, the distance shows almost half.
So I'm confused.
I'm hoping someone could help... thanks!

I would say about 10 min or less. Depending on how fast you walk and how long you wait at the harbor crosswalk. It's not far at all.
