Do you know if they consider Costco a grocery store? I'm not near a Kroger or Giant Eagle. And we don't depend 6k at grocery stores each year. With the annual fee, it's probably not worth it.

I thought I'd also add that Amex often has those sync "offers" you often see threads for on this forum. Troughout the year, you can easily take advantage of those offers to more than offset the fee. Also, you can find links for the normal sign-up bonus of $150 (covers two years of fees) or the one with $150 + extras $50 after spend. 3% on gas also. I'm sure your grocery store has gift cards also that would get 6% cash back for.

Sweet, I applied and got in. Unfortunately the card will be here after the 4x fuel points sale I assume. I just got a CitiBank American Air card a few days ago and it gave me an immediate card# to use that expires in about 2 weeks. I was hoping for the same setup.

Sadly no. GC require cash or debit, no CC at our local grocery chains. Oh well, maybe if we move near Krogers I'll think about it. We already have an Amex to get the special offers.

No Costco only gets 1% back plus next year you can't use amex at Costco anymore. I don't spend anywhere near $6k at grocery stores but for gift card purchases. Anything I can buy with a gift card I do. But there is a free amex that has 3% back at grocery stores.

Hmm, wheels still turning. We have Safeway here (way more convenient than FM/Kroger even though I hate them ). They are running a deal right now that might just be better. 2x fuel points+ $10 off $50. Their ad runs until Tuesday the 12th, also.
200 Target GC = $-10 instant discount, -$0.40 off gallon (About $6.40), -$12 AMEX Blue, $-10 Target =$161.60. I need my AMEX card STAT! Of course all the good deal exploiters in our area have probably looong gobbled up the GC stashes at Safeway. I had a few year period of 'extreme couponing' while in nursing school and they would wipe out shelves and sell them at their garage sales. Everyone deserves a good deal and if you are taking away opportunities for others to get in on it so you can be greedy and not work for a living....I have a serious beef with that! Rant over.
