How do you keep your stroller dry on rainy days?

We have a tandem stroller for our two boys, which makes it twice as tricky...

Do you actually have manufactured "rain covers" for your strollers, or have you figured out how to do makeshift ones?

I'm thinking about keeping the boys dry if we're walking in the rain, as well as keeping the stroller dry when it's parked (limited sheltered stroller parking... boy does Disney need to improve this!)

We have a maclaren techno and just use the rain cover that came with it. I have seen soem people use ponchos over the stroller but they don't work that well

We just got back from a very wet week in Disney and managed to keep our stroller dry with a large poncho & some dollar store clips. Someone suggested getting bag of clips for those "emergencies" that pop up & they sure came in handy - just threw the poncho over the stroller & clipped the sides together - worked like a charm! Hope that helps! Oh, just be sure to clip the hood part closed too!

last year we had two umbrella strollers, but our idea would work better on a double. I just bought a plastic tablecloth from the dollar store, draped it over the stroller, and used clothespins to keep it in place. the tablecloth was too big for a single stroller, but I plan to use the same thing this year for the double we are borrowing. Don't worry about the kids suffocating - there is lots of air going through there. And my kids tore little holes in front of them anyway so they could see:rotfl:

Everytime we went into an attraction when the sky looked threatening, we jus draped the cover over and never had wet bottoms

I never thought about a plastic tablecloth before! That's a great idea! :thumbsup2 Thanks!

(And if you need it for a single, can't you just cut it?)

Interesting you should mention worrying about the kids suffocating... I was just looking at some pics of manufactured stroller covers, and that's exactly what it looked like would happen! (Right, Liz? <--- my shy dsil who I'm visiting right now and is also browsing thru the Disboards now)

I have a rain cover I got at BRU and I love it. There are vents on the sides to have air flow, but it keeps the stroller totally dry..

The manufactured rain covers work well. Just make sure you put it on the stroller if it even looks like it might rain before going on a ride or inside to eat.

We use a stroller rain cover as they are made to fit exactly and don;t let any water in at all. They are all well ventilated so let air circulate. I cover the stroller every time we leave it as you never know when the heavens will open.

Be sure to keep your diaper bag waterproofed somehow and bring a towel to pad the seat. We found that water splashed up as we walked around and got things wet too. I also found that when it rained the baby got cold and needed pants and a hoodie. I like to keep extra socks for everybody in the diaper bag and an umbrella.

i used the one that came with my stroller, but seen ponchos clipped on and also the clear shower curtains clipped on.

I just used an orange rain poncho. OUr stroller stood out in the crowd, and was never even damp, even with the approach of Tropical Storm Faye.

I purchased a Jeep brand stroller cover prior to our trip last year and LOVED it. It was big enough to cover the diaper bag as well as the stroller.

I just purchased a standard stroller cover. I did make sure to cover the stroller every time we went on a ride or into a show, one never knows when the showers may come.

We used the stroller covers that came with ours and they kept my girls dry, down to their toes. I wish I could have been under there. We had a fairly wet week while we were there.

We have a rain cover for our BOB double stroller, but before that we always brought a plastic tablecloth and clothes pins.
The pins are important as it keeps it from blowing around.

Another tip- if you are parking your stroller in an exposed spot, and rain is even vaguely threatening to fall... put the rain cover on! Once that stroller is wet... it's just no fun.

I would say get one from an online store or ebay (they have some inexpensive ones). Your LO(s) can still see and be dry at the same time.
