We are heading to WDW next week and it s forecasted to REALLY rain! :sad1: Does the park close and what is there to do when it is raining??? :confused3 Thanks!

Parks do not close and most rides stay open unless there is lighting. Test track is one of the few that always closes in the rain. Try to choose your park for a rainy day. MGM or Epcot are good rain parks. The others not so much so. Crowds will be much lower.

Take ponchos or rain coats. Take rain covers for strollers. If it is really raining we like a baseball cap under the poncho to direct the rain. Umbrellas are a pain in the park. Wear shoes that can get wet with out issue. Crocks are great. If it is cold, take some socks to put on after you dry off your foot if the rain stops.

Most Flordia rain really does not last too long. EVen if it does rain you are at least at WDW!!!!

Which weather forecast are you looking at? We're leaving on Saturday and I see scattered storms predicted at this point. In my experience (and I might be jinxing myself by saying this), the forecast usually predicts scattered rain like this a week or so out, but it is usually afternoon showers that don't last too long.

things we like to do in WDW if it's raining:

put on the ponchos & crocs and head to Epcot or MGM, they're the best rainy day parks!

head over to Downtown Disney -- shop, eat and shop some more!

have lunch at one of the resorts on the monorail -- Poly, CR or GF and then ride the monorail around the loop

drive over to AKL for lunch/dinner and take in the resort -- it's amazing!

my DS13 favorite is Disney Quest -- DH usually offers to go with him, I think he enjoys it just as much!
HTH, have fun!

Go and have a great time. Our best day at MK was a rainy day. There were no lines and no crowds. My kids danced down Main Street with their arms stretched out and didn't even come close to hitting anyone. In fact, we were a little dissappointed the next day when the sun came out. The only park I wouldn't go to in AK.

Of course, I have always loved to play in the rain.

I'm starting to bit my nails about it as well... but most says scattered we are leaving Friday and going to P&P party monday night, and it's scattered T-showers... yuck... i think i'll pick up some more ponchos at my last min walmart stop thursday. A lot can change in 5-7-10 days out, last week my area was getting round 3 of snow today, well then it changed to chance of rain/snow mix, then to rain, and it never did anything but warm up! LOL

The only time Disney closes parks for weather is during a hurricane. The resort pools and water parks will close if there is thunder&lightening storms. Bring some extra ponchos (the ones at the Dollar store are cheap enough you can bring 1-2 for each person/day and just throw them away after one days use.) I recommend wearing a poncho unless you have a truly waterproof jacket because I've had it rain hard enough that my lightweight jacket got soaked thru. this won't happen with a plastic poncho. I prefer to wear a jacket with sleeves, but I also prefer to stay dry so the poncho does work better for that. :) If you don't have water-friendly shoes, then just bring an extra pair so you can at least switch off each day to let the wet pair dry out thoroughly. I love the idea of bringing along an extra pair of socks in case the ones you have on get wet! Don't know why I never think to do that, lol. Other than that, don't sweat it...you're at DISNEY! you'll have wonderful time! :goodvibes

If it's warm and there is no thunder hit the water parks. They will be mostly empty. We did that in 2004 it was great. Never a lineup.

well today forcase looks better, only rain on sunday and monday :( the rest of the week is looking better then yesterday... oh 2 more days to stare at the weather! LOL and change my packing list!

We leave this Sat, our plan is magic kingdom on Sunday. As a surprise for my husbands 50th! We have a boat reserved for a birthday Wishes Fireworks cruis!
Does anyone know what happens about the fireworks if raining or thunder, as forecast predicts> groan. Have had the reservation for 3 months. Thanks!!

When we went in January it was rainy 3 of the days. This helped to keep crowds WAY down and we got to enjoy Epcot and MK in the rain. There was no thunder or lightning so every attraction was open, except Test Track. Pretty much walk-ons!!! One night we went to Epcot for Illuminations, it was POURING BUCKETS until about 8:15, by 9:00 it was clear, barely a crowd so we got a good spot and Illuminations was beautiful! What a peaceful night at Epcot!! By no means did the rain ruin our trip.
