This is a must-do for my DS and DD, so I'm not asking about the food, etc.
Just wanting to check out what the Rainforest direct line told me today as I attempted to made a PS. He said at DD, it's walk-in only.

(Rainforest at AK was taking PSs, so that was no problem).

Is that true?? If you've been there recently during a busy week--say 8pm-ish, how long was your "wait"?

WDW on June 24th

Rainforest Cafe in DD does not take PS. Everytime we have been there, it has been packed. I would recommend becoming a Safari Club member. I signed up at the RC store connected to the restaurant (about 3 years ago) but I heard you can also sign up at their website. The website is not listed on my card. Perhaps someone knows it and will post it. If I recall correctly, it cost $15. They will send you your membership card with a $10 gift certificate. Also with your card, you can get 10% off your meals or a free appetizer. Here is my favorite part - when we showed them our card, we were directed into the que line and were seated in 5 minutes (Easter week). Without the card, our wait was going to be 1 1/2 hours. The only drawback about waiting to sign up when you are there is that you don't get the $10 GC immediately. It is mailed to you later and I believe it must be used within 1 year. It worked out for us because we took another trip later that summer.

Rainforest Cafe® welcomes reservations at all domestic U.S. locations. Remember to call ahead of your visit - that means no waiting for a table in this wild place! Please contact the location you plan to visit for more information.

Downtown Disney Reservations: We welcome groups of all sizes. For more information, please call (407) 827-8500. For reservations for groups of 15 or larger, please call (407) 827-6453.

This is direct from rainforest.com...

Also from the Disney Cast member information web sight it states the same thing. DTD Rainforest accepts reservations but they must be made more than 24 hours in advance by calling 407-827-8500 same day reservations are acepted until 4pm... after 4pm on same day is walk in only...

Maybe you should call back and verify again, and perhaps qoute their web page...which clearly states that they accept reservations :)

I had a PS when we ate there in December - called RFC direct within 30 days of our visit.

Thanks.

Maybe I called too early for RF--I was finishing out all my WDW PSs at the 90 day mark.
As for the website, I was a bit confused with it's message and then the one I got from the CM at the DD RF.

I'll decide whether to join the Safara Club or call at 30 days....I'm leaning toward the Club.
We don't get to a RF often, but it may be worth it.

Definitely check out the Safari Club. If you order it in advance, you will receive your $10 certificate before you go. It will make it well worth the money spent. You also get discounts on food and merchandise. The card is good at other restaurants owned by Landry's, such as Joe's Crab Shack. I also remember reading that you must use your card at least once a year, or it will become void and you will have to pay to get a new one. If your birthday is between now and your visit, you will also get a gift certificate for that. Finally, do not apply too early because the certificates have expiration dates - I think about 4 months after they are issued. Have fun!

We love the Safari Club, and use it only when we are at Disney! But, it is well worth it!

I just made my ressie yesterday for next week at the DTD location. You just have to call them directly, not Disney Dining.

I called the RFC at DTD directly for my reservation in June, I asked then how far in advance were they accepting reservations and I was told up to 12/31/04. You do not have join the Safari club to make a reservation.
When they take your reservation, your confirmation # is the last 4 digits of your phone #.

Ditto what HelenK said. I already have reservations for Christmas day 2004. They are taking reservations thru 12/31. Definitely call back!

I got the Safari Club Card during our last visit. Didn't know it gave THAT kind of special privilege, will keep that in mind..;) Another thing about it is that you can use the temporary card on the meal immediately. They did say that it is lifetime memebership with only that initial $15 fee, but you have to use it once a year to keep it current. It is good for all affiliated shops and restaurants (the only one I remember is Joe's Crab Shack.) I signed up in early Feb. and still have not received my card...

I called RFC at Animal Kingdom directly last week to make a reservation for May. They told me that I could not make an advance reservation and that we would need to call or stop by the day we wanted to dine there which I thought was odd considering what I have hear here. After I told her I was a Safari Club member, she took the information reluctantly.

When I joined the Safari Club in March I had my card in about two weeks.

what is the website for the rainforest cafe??? How soon do you think the card will get here??? Our trip to disney is in 5wks and we plan on going there for dinner. Thanks

Here is what I found. Sounds great for us too. We have PS for the AK one and we will be using VKL vouchers there, but I also have $25 in Rainforest Cafe GCs coming, so we planned on going twice. We also love Joe's Crab Shack, so if the $10 doesn't get here before we leave, we can just use it there.
