We have an ADR for rainforest cafe at the AK this summer and will be eating on the DDP.

The menus on allears say that you have to pay to substitute fries into your meal, if using the DDP will my party have to pay to substitute fries or will it be covered under the DDP?

Does anybody have recent experience of dining there with the DDP since it has been introduced to the regular dining plan?

yes, you will have to pay extra just like you would have to pay for appetizers if you're on the regular dining plan. We have eaten at Downtown Disney Rainforest and T-Rex on the dining plan in February and March 2012. And yes they do charge for the subbing...they offered the substitutions on all our orders (like fries for chips), and waitresses specifically said we would be charged cash for the up-charges.

At T-rex, we did get extra stuff (alcoholic beverages, and a side salad...neither was covered on the regular dining plan) What they did was bring two separate bills...the one bill had all the stuff covered by the dining plan, and that just "zeroed out". The other bill was the adult beverages, the salad, and the tip...which we charged to our credit card.
