We might like to try this out............ our DS will be 6 on this trip, he loves animals!!! Can anyone who has eaten here tell me what it's like? Also, where is it?? We are staying at AKL, is it close to us?? Thanks!!!

There are 2 - One in Animal Kingdom and one in Downtown Disney.

If you go for dinner and DTD, either call ahead and see if you can make ressies, or put your name and walk around, but be prepared to wait a while.

It's alot of fun. Great atmosphere. Food is pretty good too.

We have eaten at both AK and DTD. They are great and fun. The animals come alive it rains very entertaining. Food is wonderful and a wide selection. We went for lunch at Ak and had no wait. A dinner at DTD we waited about 30 minutes so not to bad. Have fun

Thanks, I had no idea there was one at AK!!!! Great!! It looks like a place DS would really like !!

its not a bad place, very loud though, there are elephant sections and gorrila sections and they have 'thunder storms' and lightening, and the animitronic animals make noises and such. food is ok. they are a chain so they exist outside of disney as well.

We really like it...if yuor son is anything like mine was at 6, he will enjoy it. I must say, however, that I once saw a little girl come completely unglued when the "gorilla" behind her chair 'came to life'! So just please let your son know that the do move from time to time!

Thanks!!!! It looks fun, but I'll have to make sure he know's what he's "in for".......... LOL!!!! Does anyone have a rough idea of the prices?? I found the menu, but no prices......... I'd just like to have an idea. OH, does anyone have any pics??? That would be great!!!

Thanks so much!!!!!

Not sure how many know about this, but you should look into the Safari Club. Honestly, I don't remember exactly what I paid for membership - $25 I think. Well worth it. I bought the membership, saved 10% on lunch that day. Went to RC at DTD - There was a 2 hour wait. Went to the booth, showed them my card, and was at my table within 5 minutes. Every time you go there, you get 10% off your meal.

We have one in Burlington, MA, about 45 minutes from where I live, so we go there too, but it's well worth it even for 2 visits there.

I saw the Safari Club on the website, but I can't access it.. It says you have to do it at the restaurant.......... :confused3 I'm wondering though, if I could do it at Joe's Crabshack?? There is one of those about 10 min. from me......... I guess I could call to find out, it may be worth it if I can use it at Joe's as well, since there is not a RFC near me.

Thanks!!!!

We ate at the AK one and really enjoyed it! The kids had soo much fun and it just fit in perfect with the whole AK theme!

I couldn't buy one at Joe's Crab Shack here in Pittsburgh. I had to buy at the RC I was visiting in San Francisco back in June.

It's a fun place to eat. The card is a good investment too. The card cost me $15 and I got a $10 gift certificate in the mail after I bought it. Used it when we went to WDW in July. Just make sure you get it scanned at least once a year. Even if you are just visiting the gift shop, take it to the cash registar and get them to scan it. They can scan it at Joe's Crab Shack too. You just can't buy it there.

We do not have a RC here in Pensacola, so I thought it would be neat to try it when we went to the AK. My two girls 6 and 7 at the time loved it. I think you should try it at least once just to say you've been. Very neat just to look around and watch the monkeys and rain come down. My husband got the lobster plate ( :earseek: $$$) he said it was excellent. Girls got standard kid fare.

I was having breakfast one day at Rc and a family with 2 small children came in, I think they where about 8 and 6. The waitress told them about the thunderstorms and told them they where not real ones or she wouldn't work there the smallest one looked abit worried but they went ahead. Sure enough the thunder started and the OLDER one started to cry, not a very convincing cry either, a few tears later her parents where trying to placate her and she happened to turn in my direction. the fear that she was showing didn't reach her eyes they where totally clear with a rather measuring look in them!! The poor parents where had totally and she got a toy and some sweets out of it.

:rotfl:

Just a heads up too about the portion size- its huge. Easy to share meals here. Last time we at at RFC in AK each kid bought a kids meal and I got the pizza and DH got his own plate. The pizza could have fed me and 2 kids and the burger kids meal that DD ate- it had 3 small burgers on it and she ate one and a couple of bites of another. We could have ordered the pizza, one kids meal and DH's plate. We also got the volcano dessert and it was great fun. We had so much more food than we could eat, but had to get that dessert. :dog:

Thanks everyone............. I still haven't been able to find prices........... anyone??? I'm pretty sure we'll try it out, it looks really cool!!

Rainforest Cafe is a great place to eat.Over the years,we have eaten there about five or six times. But now that my girls are older and eat bigger meals,we have found that it has become too expensive for us.I have looked at the menu about the last three years, and it appears that the prices have increased dramaticly. One year,we ate there three times on one trip,so,I'd say from that and the higher prices,we probably won't go there again. But as far as a restaurant to reccomend, yes,I do,and yes,you will enjoy it.

I've eaten at both WDW Rainforest Cafe's. They are great! I totally love the potroast. I have a mypoints account and I use my points to get $25 gift cards before our Disney trips. It helps out on the cost because there are six of us. I try to call in reservations before we arrive at Disney. If we are shopping Downtown then we'll see if we can get a reservation for later when we're done.

What is the card you are talking about scanning? I know there is a discount card to purchase. Why would you have to scan it yearly? Is there more to it than a discount? Anyone with all the details? I'd appreciate it!
