We are looking for a restaurant to take our 4 yearl old son to for a Sunday dinner. This will be our last night before we leave to head back home.

I was thinking the Rainforest Cafe would be fun for him. Any thoughts?

Have you been? Did you like it? I know it's probably over priced, but I want him to have a GREAT time out to eat, before we start our drive. This place looks so kid friendly.

Are there other things for a 4 year old at downtown disney?

I would love any other suggetions for Restuarants if you have any on the property that would be super kid friendly.

I would do T-Rex instead...same concept as Rainforest but prehistoric and WAY cooler in my opinion. I also like the food better.

I loved rainforest, the decor is great, I liked the food.. I personally would pick Trex instead, Same company that owns rainforest also owns this, It looks awesome, but I havent been there yet.

Personally I love RFC I think it is awesome, and we have one in Phoenix, but I still like to go in Orlando. I usually make RFC my last nights dinner also. Last time we were there, there was a parrot outside the building with his owner putting on a show! I love the decor, and I think many children would also like it, it gives a sense that you are deep in the forest, and there are animals all around. Guess what? It really is not that expensive! I hope you go, and have fun.

We love Rainforest. It's great for the kids and the food is pretty good. If you google Landry's Restaurant coupons you will find some coupons for Rainforest.

T-Rex looks great too, but I've never been there.

We have done the RF many times and really enjoyed it. We just went to the T-rex in July for the first time and we LOVED it. The dinos are cool and the food was really good. There were 10 in our party and everyone had something different to eat and everyone said it was great. The RF has a thunderstorm every 20min the T-rex has a meteor(sp) shower. It was really cool.

RFC is a very cool restaurant - but it is very loud. There are thunder storms and animal noises - that always scared my daughter.

I'd recommend it. As you so astutely pointed out, you are there for the atmosphere more than the food but, that said, the food isn't bad (not the best meal you'll have all week but it's decent).

My nearly 3.5 year old son loves it there; so much to look at and so many interesting things happening, like the thunderstorms & animals moving. I don't imagine it could possibly be frightening to a 4 year old (it's not like the lights go out or anything) unless they have a fear of thunder.

Haven't tried T-Rex as my son isn't into Dinos yet and I have heard that it is extremely loud and some of the rooms can be overwhelming & frightening. RFC has a more peaceful animal/jungle kingdom kind of vibe so I think it'd be a great bet for your purposes.

My kids both loved Rainforest Cafe, especially my 2 yr old because she LOVES animals. My 2 yr old cousin though was a little terrified of the thunderstorms, my 5 yr old was fine. Sooo I love it there :) We go every trip.

I would do TRex is if you can! We like it much better than RFC for both food and atmosphere! And for a boy the dinos are way cool! :thumbsup2

We prefer Rain Forest over T Rex was disappointed in it. food seems better to us at RF. portions huge. we like character breakfast and Cafe May at Beech Club and Donald Safari at AK and Hollywood & Vine (Handy Mandy) and O' Hana's (breakfast was characters) Whispering Canyons at FT WL (take boat from MK) Grand Floridian has some characters was princess and villians but think they have changed that. last on our list is Chef Mickey's used to be so good and last two times awful...go to allears.net and pull up menus or any WDW site and pull up dining and can read all where characters are..have great trip:banana:

are also lots of things for a 4 year old at DTD to do.. huge toy store and huge Disney store also full of toys and lego was still there in February. small Merry go round..lots to do for evening and the water sprouts..

Thank you all so much! I spoke with the Disney reservations today to book my room closer to the food court and the bus. (thanks to your comments on here) and I also asked about RFC and he suggest the TREX. My son is in LOVE with dino's so I think we will go that route for Sunday night.

We may hit RFC for an early lunch on Monday before we leave, just beacuse it looks so fun.

I appreciate all your comments, thank you!
:cheers
