Hey all, look at me, my first post!! YAY Anyway, I had a few questions about the Rainforest Cafe. Were planning on eating there the day we arrive, which will be a non park day for us. Are their 2 seperate RC's? I read about one in Downtown Disney and one in the Animal Kingdom. I am hoping their is one in dtd since its a non park day. And if not, would we still be able to go to the one in AK if were not using the park? Thanks bunches guys!:dance3:

Welcome to the disboards! And how wonderful your big family is abot to take their first trip to WDW!

Yes, there are two. The one in DTD is in the Marketplace section of that area. If you take a Disney bus, just get off at the Marketplace stop, its right there and easy to see.

Then there is one at Animal Kingdom, you can eat there without going inside the park, it has a separate entrance. However, since AK closes earlier than DTD, if you want dinner, I do suggest you eat at the DTD one in case the one at AK closes a bit early.

I suggest you make an ADR (which you can do online) they both get busy.

RFC is the perfect way to kick off a Disney vacation and if you go to the one in DTD, you are right next to the World of Disney store.

Yes, there are two different restaurants, one at AK and one at DTD.

The Animal Kingdom restaurant is outside the park gates, so you can access it without having park admission. However, I don't know what happens if you drive to the park. I think you still have to pay for parking there.

Thank you Thank you!! Thats exactly what I needed to know......and World of Disney Store.....I don't even know what it is, but I love it already :lovestruc I think my husbands wallet just cringed!;) Thanks all!

Just a suggestion but you might want to look at T-Rex Cafe. It is new and I personally like the food better. It is in DTD as well.. It is just like RFC but dino themed..

Definitely go to DTD. World of Disney is great; you can spend tons of time in there. Also, there's a really cute place nearby called Tren-D.

Wrold of Disney is a HUGE store full of Disney merchandise. And yeah, your wallet with feel it, esp. with 8 kids!

I like to buy my kids a Disney gift card before the trip and that is their spending money. That way they can carefully choose what they want since its their money that's buying it! I hang onto the cards, I just put their name in sharpie marker so I know whose is whose!

Rainforest Cafe also has a large gift store inside it. But I find their merchandise much cheaper than Disney's so that's nice. Its not Disey themed stuff, but kids still love it.

I also want to add that RFC can frighten some young kids. It can get dark and every so often it thunders and lightenings. Most kids do love it, but if you have one that is afraid of loud noises you might beware. It also has fish tanks, animals that make noise (elephant sounds, gorillas that make nose) so its a lively place!

Anyone know if the price range for T Rex is similar to RFC? It looks really cool, so long as its not $30 a head  We picked RFC because they used to have a great one up here in PA, but since shut it down, which we were bummed about because we loved it! Having 6 boys, I think the Dino atmosphere might appeal to them...especially what with being inundated with Princesses thanks to their sisters! And I'm liking the Disney gift card idea! Thanks

Unless I am wrong I thought the Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom stays open even after the park closes?

RFC at AK does stay open, but if you go too late, getting a Disney bus out of there can be complicated (learned that one the hard way). If you have your own car, that is not issue (not sure if OP has a car or not). I do think however, that it still does not stay open nearly as late as the DTD one.

Here is the menu for T-Rex:

T-Rex kids menu:

It is very similar in price to RFC. I can tell you that at RFC and T-Rex, portions are very large and easily shared. Even the kids meals are large and probably enough to share between two kids unless they are huge eaters.

We actually find RFC to be a good bargain since we can share.

Thanks for your reply.

wanted to mention lots of fun places to take pics around DTD -- around the Lego store (giant lego structures, including the Lego "dragon" in the water; and all around World of Disney --there's pirate display area outside that's great for posing, also near life-size statues of Disney princesses outside you can pose by...over in Disney Marketplace area, there's Pooh Place store-around the corner from that is life-size pooh statue, bench, etc to pose kids by. It's a great place to spend some time & get lots of "character" pictures without waiting in hot lines in the parks, or paying $$$ for character meals.
