Rainforest Cafe - comments please

We usually eat at the RFC at DD for our 1st night meal. However, during our December trip, we ate there during our last night. We always enjoy the food, but not the prices! ;) Granted the portions are HUGE, and we have learned to split meals there.

If you consider going, I would HIGHLY recommend the RFC Safari Club. It costs around $15 to join, but it is wonderful. They will send you birthday and "anniversary" coupons, and when you arrive, you basically get put at the front of the line! Very little waiting, when usually we always ended up waiting over an hour! Also, you get either a free appetizer, or 10% off your bill. We got the quesadillas for the free app, and it was yummy! I couldn't even eat it all, not even try to split my dh's meal we had planned to share! It's the way to go!! ::yes::

Since AK is a short day, why don't you plan to visit the one at DD, and then you can.... SHOP!!! ;) (and do as we did...send the dh's back to the room with the kids, while we shopped and had a goody at Ghiradelli's!! :p )

The one at AK takes PS's, DTD does not.

We had PS at the DTD one just this past December. Call RFC directly...they use the last 4 digits of your telephone # as the confirmation #.

But honestly...in our opinion....Yuck. Even my neice and nephew didn't like it. The table was dirty when they sat us at it, the service left a lot to be desired and the food was ok at best and overpriced. And this was early Dec when the place wasn't jam packed.

Everyone has their own experience and opinion, but we wouldn't go back.

I love the RFC. I always go to the one in DTD and have beeen happy with my meal. I know they are all over but the first time I went was in DTD. I loved it I thought it was so cool. Even when I see one in the mall it reminds me of Disney. I plan on taking my kids to one before our trip in Nov.

AK RFC,
the food was fine, not gourmet but good( quality similar to what you would expect from a chain type rest.) and giant quantities...unless you are starved consider splitting... had the lobster which was on a huge platter with a giant mound of rice and very good grilled veggies..the stuffing was a little more dip like than I cared for( would have been better with a trip under the broiler) but real crab( was told it was Phillip's crab from maryland I think, forget which state now). very good key lime pie for dessert

we went for an early lunch in Jan and had only a few min. wait for a table and our meal was prompt also so the service could depend on the overall crowds at the park(?)

we got a very good and again huge breakfast another day, same short wait times.

we will go back, espec. for breakfast . do join the safari club as it is well worth it.

Very nice place. The food is tasty and the atmosphere is fun; esp for kids.

I tend to skip it though, in Disnye, because I live about 5 minutes from the one in MA so it's not something I rush to on vacation.

But if you don't have one near you, check it out :)

I've never been to the ones at Disney, but there's a Rainforest Cafe up here that I LOVE! My dd is less than impressed though. I took her there when she was about 17 months old and she was TERRIFIED of the monkeys. Absolutely terrified. She kept screaming and tried to climb into my lap every time the monkeys "came to life." :scared1:
