Rainforest Cafe - comments please

We will be arriving early afternoon at the CS - thought we would do a couple of hours at Animal Kingdom - see the parade - and grab an early dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has eaten there. Thanks. gailelle

We will be there this Friday! But we are going to the one in Downtown Disney, however I will let you know how it goes when we get back. I have never eaten at Rainforest before!

Out of the theme restaurant chains (Planet Hollywood, Hardrock Cafe, Rainforest Cafe) they by far have the best quality, most unique food. They aren't just a burger/TGIF place like PH and HR. They make a shepard's pie type entree that I just love. The atmosphere is great too, lots of stuff to look at and you won't get bored. The service on my visits has been average, nothing outstanding. Sometimes the food has taken a little long to come out. Prices are reasonable.

RF is a must for us every trip. I know some think the food is so-so, but my family has never had a bad meal there. However, we're not picky eaters. The atmosphere is really nice.

I really enjoy the Rainforest. Sometimes I just have a drink and appetizer. YUMMY!

If I could make one suggestion.... VolcanOOOOOOO!

I always order the china Island Chicken salad, it is HUGE.. DS and I share it and he is a teenager.DS#2 has a kids burger and so does my husband...more than enough food for a family of 4. the food is good.. we always go to the one at AK it is a great place for the middle of the day to cool off at Ak and have a good meal..

DH and I like it a lot - it's part of our first AK day everytime we go. We've never had bad food there, we like the atmosphere, and the volcano is yummy

Downtown Disney was nice, lots of animals and scenery. The rain storms are the best...all the monkeys go nuts.

These comments are helping me since I made PS for RFC at AK for next Tuesday for lunch. I've never been to a RFC and am looking forward to eating there.

This is one place that we eat at at least once every trip! I've read plenty of comments that the food is over priced and just so-so quality; but we really like it. We've always had good service and good food here---plus the atmosphere is great, especially for the kids!

We go to RFC every trip. It's wonderful.

The salads are HUGE and need to be shared. I ate and ate and it looked like I hadn't even touched it.

I've only been there once & had one of my all-time favorite meals--the Paradise Pot Roast. Yum!

We went to the RFC in DTD during our trip in December. It was something we were really looking forward to, especially for our first night there. It turned out to really NOT be our favorite place. The food was just so-so, the restaurant was the most crowded out of all the places we ate, the wait staff was not attentive at all, AND it was the most over-priced meal we ate.

Lots of people love it, I know, we just weren't one of them. I read lots of both good and bad reviews before we went, but I really wanted to make up my own mind.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful time, and talk about how that crazy lady from MS has no idea what she's talking about.

Don't know about the one in WDW, but we've been to the one in DL twice. First time, we were seated in an out-of-the way area, away from all the animals. The next year, they started leading us to the same crummy area! We had to specifically ask for some decent seats, after all the big attraction of RFC is the show! The food we found to be so-so, no big deal. If not for the show, then we wouldn't have bothered at all. We won't be going back next time.

Maybe RFC in WDW is much better. I hope you'll have a good time--make sure you get a good table!!

We've eaten at RFC in AK and DTD - the one in AK is much better as far as service, IMHO.

We had vouchers, and the server was very helpful in helping us spend them.

Add us to the list of repeat customers! My kids love it. While the food is not gourmet by any stretch, its just great for what they offer. We really like the atmosphere.

I replied about Rainforrest on another thread but I can't stop myself from posting here. Be prepared for a LONG lunch. They seemed to lack servers/help and our lunch took an hour to come out, we ordered apps! The restraunt was half empty and there was a long line of people waing to be seated. Overall we were there 2 hours. I would not go back, food was ok, good variety but pricey. I would rather eat in Epcot at a country for the same money. Sorry, Just my opinion. Decor was great though.

I've eaten at the RFC in AK only once and it was good. The food, service, atmosphere, etc. are comparable to the RFC about 5 miles from my home.

We've eaten at the one in Downtown Disney. Really good.

But: Last year I had a priority seating. We arrived at the (podium) line about 7 - 10 minutes late. But, by the time we waited in line to check in we were about 25 - 30 minutes late. They would not accommodate us. couldn't believe it. The one at downtown disney gets sooooo crowded. Not fun when you can't move and people are arguing about who is next. Not unlikely at all to see 2 hour waits...

The one at AK takes PS's, DTD does not. It always seems appropriate to eat here while at AK. The atmosphere couldn't be more perfect. It's also a cool refreshing break in the middle of a hot day. The last time I had a shrimp pasta that was quite good. My teenage son always gets the hamburger and says its good but he never finishes it because it's so big. Breakfast at RFC is one of the best I've had on property. The breakfast potatoes are delicious. The kids will love it, but big kids like it too.
