My kids really want to eat at Rainforest, not so much for the food they are only 11,8,7 and don't have a clue what is on the menu, but for the ambiance. LOL. So, we are going for lunch at the AK (I know it is not on the DP, we will pay OOP). Is is really worth it? I need reviews. Thanks! :confused3

Rainforest Cafe' is a must for us on our WDW trips. The food is a little pricey but we love the atmosphere. THere is always tons to eat and it's decently tasty. Go to Allearsnet.com and check out the menus there. Deb has done a wonderful job getting all the menus together.

DH, DD17, DS15 and I just love to look around that whole place. It's really a treat for the senses.

I love the theming of the Rainforest but.......................I just came back from WDW last week. Our last Ts meal I booked the Rainforest and also paid out of pocket. It was just myself and my Ds (8) . The food was terrible. Our bill was $45.00, and believe me we had nothing special, and no desert! I do not think we will go there again. I would rather eat at a Disney TS restaurant with the characters and have crappy food( I have never had bad food at a disney restaurant) ! At least I could have a magical time! (just my opinion) :confused3

My family ate at the Rainforest Cafe (outside AK) in 2004, and I LOVED it! The restaurant is a bit over-priced, but the food (IMO) is great! :-)

We have eaten there and enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey but, at the same time the atmosphere is great. I second the AllEars site! Great place to check out menus.

My DD and I just had lunch there (the one at AK) this past weekend. I wasn't expecting much as far as the food was concerned, and was pleasantly surprised! Everything we had from drinks, to appetizers (calamari), to the entree (coconut carribean shrimp) was very good! Plus, it was such a fun place to eat. Also, the servings were huge. We didn't finish anything.

While there is a lot to look at... the food is soso, overpriced, and sooooo slooooooow my DD was asleep and everyone else was comatose before the food came :rolleyes1

Thanks everyone, I was laughing at Marty Joe's post because I can see us falling asleep and comatose when we go LOL. We have lunch ressies at 1:00 after our morning in AK and the heat, I am sure we will be tired!

I am going with the attitude of not really expecting much in way of food being good, and if it is, great, I will be surprised. We will plan on spending lots of $$$ and the kids will be soo happy with the atmosphere, that is the main reason why we are going.....the kids, plus me (hee hee). DH would rather go to Tusker House or Flame Tree. Thanks everyone. Now to check out those menus.

It is expensive. We try to share so as to cut down on costs, though. For our family of 3 (me and two girls 12 and 15), we will get two entrees and a dessert and sometimes an appetizer. The portions are large and plentiful enough to share. The atmosphere is so fun. We eat at lunch right before we are ready to leave for a break. It's cool, dark, and an overall fun experience. We'll be back at RFC in June!

We enjoy Rainforest Cafe both at WDW and at home. This is a place my kids usually pick to go for "special occasions" like their birthday. Anyway, we like the food. I ESPECIALLY love the coconut shrimp! They are the best!!!!!!! The portions are big, so you can definitely share. I have ordered the potroast and also the steak/shrimp/rib combo before (not at the same time of course.) If you join the Safari club, you get priority seating and also a free appetizer (or 10% off your bill).

Also, it ALL about the volcano!!!!!!!!! You must get this. Although its not quite as fun at WDW compared to at home because at home they put in a real sparkler when they bring it to your table. At WDW they just have a streamer thing on the top.

i have a rainforest not too far from home, so we try to avoid it at WDW. i do love the china island chicken salad, so if you're into a salad get that one for sure! otherwise, it's a cool restaurant with a great atmosphere, but a little overpriced.

For what you describe as what you're looking for, I'd go. The portions are big, but the food is so-so. They have a different service model that I think is supposed to be more efficient, but which winds up being sloooooooooow 90% of the time. But, if you and the kids are patient and looking for the atmosphere, you'll probably enjoy it. DD8 certainly enjoys it.

Their specialty drinks are pretty yummy. If you decline the souvenir glass, they're cheaper, too. :)

We love RFC! Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the service and atmosphere are great and the food is pretty good too. We like doing breakfast at the RFC at AK. They open about an hour before the park does and it's always pretty easy to get a table for breakfast because most people don't even realize that they serve breakfast. It's a great way to start the day! Maggie

We love the Rainforest. Personally, our family doesn't think it's pricey at all when you compare it to other WDW restaurants. We've never been disappointed here and visit every single trip.
