Rainforest Cafe - AK without reservations?

So I was able to get FOP as FP finally, but it's in the evening. Figured since the kids can't do an all-day there, we'd do afternoon and eat dinner at Rainforest cafe.

But as my usual luck, the only reservations are 4 and 8 (too early and too late).

So, if one just shows up, is that even possible for Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom? Or is it like our restaurants around town where if you're not there by 5:00 there's a 2 hour wait?

I have been to both Rainforests and if you go without a reservation, its more likely to give you a very long wait. We always make reservations and we still sometimes have to wait awhile (like half hour). I believe it to be largely a matter of luck, if you go there without a res, that you will get in in a reasonably short time. Good luck to you! Also, keep trying; I have checked even a couple of days before we go to find that suddenly a reservation has opened up at just about the time we wanted.

Join the Landry's Select club. It's your best bet to show sans reservations. Otherwise, call them directly -- even RF at AK don't release all their bookings to Disney Dining.

Go to RC's actual website, look up their direct number, and call for a reservation. They aren't owned by Disney, and do not release all of their reservations to Disney's reservations system. We've done it several times before.

You might want to become a Landry restaurant group member. It is $25 to join, but you get a $25 welcome credit and can set your birthday to the month you are traveling to get another $25 reward. You will get priority seating before parties with ADRs.

Also, restaurants that are not Disney owned hold some tables back from the ADR system, so you can have more luck calling the restaurant directly and making a reservation that way. If you call direct there is no penalty if you miss your reservation vs. the $10 missed ADR penalty.

Join the Landry's select club and you won't need to make a reservation at all. You just check in at the podium, show your card, and you'll get priority over walk-ins and people with reservations.
