Hi,Im new to this but Im loving it.We (DH.DS and myself) will be living for WdW on thursday till next saturday but I just check the weather and it seems it,s going to rain all week :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: It's our first family vacation I don't want to be dissapointed but Im getting kind of worried.I read a few things about taking to pairs of shoes. To the park?Maybe I missunderstood. Thanks for any help :earboy2:

Definitely take shoes that dry quickly or an extra pair or you'll get blisters. Good walking sandles might be your best bet because you could skip the socks.

Just take ponchos and have fun regardless of the rain. The good news is that the crowds are usually lighter when it rains.

Hope it works out for you.

We were there 2 weeks ago & the weather forecast said 40% chance of showers every day we were there. We were there for 10 days & literally didn't see a drop of rain! :) The closer it gets to summer (& the hotter it gets) the chance for an afternoon shower increases. Usually, it only rains for a brief time in the late afternoon & then the sun comes back out. I doubt it'll be raining all day every day of the trip. I highly recommend getting a Mickey poncho if it does rain - you can continue to do the parks without getting wet. :)

Normally I would say do not worry about it as we had rain in the forecast everyday and it didn't but since we got home (mississippi) on Sat it has rained for 3 days straight and it is heading for Florida this week - I would pack extra shoes and extra clothes - go get those 89 cent ponchos from Walmart. You can still enjoy your trip but just be prepared - crowds will thin out from the rain but you will get wet.

Im going right now to get ponchos :umbrella: Do they sell kids size my son will be 3 next week  Im wondering if a poncho will work for him if not where I can get a regular rain coat?

Walmart does have the kids sized ponchos but I couldn't find them this year when I got ours. You could also check the dollar stores and if you have an Academy Sports near you they sell the ponchos and kids sized rain coats - also Disney sells their ponchos everywhere you look just in case you are caught in the rain without a poncho.

Bestmami ~ I have seen children's ponchos at our local dollar store. I bought the cheapos from Wal-Mart for our last trip and they worked fine for DS12, DS10, and myself but my DD7 wore hers and since it was big the rain went right down the neck and soaked the front of her shirt. I ended up buying the child's poncho on our rainy day at MGM for her and it was a much better fit to keep her dry. I also heard if you rip one of theirs they would replace it. Not sure about that because we didn't have to but if it's true that would be a plus. My DS and I had very wet feet at MGM that day and I didn't think to bring extra shoes/socks. I bought some socks in the gift shop and we put the dry socks on but it was too little too late and we ended up with blisters. Maybe you could bring extra shoes/socks and store them in a locker if rain is in the forecast.

We went in September one year and it was forecasted to rain the entire 12 days we were there. We only got two days where there was rain and it was like another poster mentioned, just afternoon showers and they passed pretty quickly. Another trip in December we got 2 full days of a light rain and the parks were almost empty. I didn't mind b/c we had brought tons of those disposable ponchos and we saw Epcot and MGM in no time flat b/c they were deserted. The CM's in the England section of Epcot were actually pretty funny out in the middle of the street singing songs about the rain. Good Luck.

Don't let the rain put a damper on your vacation. The parks tend to really thin out when it rains. You can experience so much more on a rainy day! If there is a thunderstorm, that is a different situation. Alot of attractions close down during electrical storms. Test Track closes if it rains. Today looks like rain all day, but yesterday it said 40% chance of rain, and the rain didn't come 'til late evening. Disney suggests Disney Quest or the movies when it rains. Most people take that suggestion and those places get mobbed.

I live in Tampa, and I can tell you that it rains in Florida every day in the summer. Don't worry though! Most of the time it only rains for an hour in the afternoon and then it clears right up! And by that time, the park will be empty! Now, as I type this, today is definitely a rain-all-day type of day, but those days are rare! Still, as everyone else has said, bring a poncho and all that, but definitely don't think you're whole trip will be a washout!

Have fun!

Thanks guys :goodvibes I feel much better now I 'm not going to let a little rain to bother me.I used to live in P.R and the weather it was pretty much the same it rains for times sometimes more than others but now I live in Va. and when it rains it nevers goes away(seems like it ;) )My son has some cute crocodile rain boots should I bring them? The more I read the post the more I realize Im not ready

Since you are leaving on Thur. you wouldnt have time to order raincoats and pants. However, they may sell them in your local outdoor store. Like a Bass Fishing place or Adventure sporting goods. We ordered ours from Cabela. We have the coats and the pants. We may look like the nerd family but we stayed dry the entire trip a couple of years ago. There was a system spinning out in the gulf and it dumped rain for days. We put our rain suits on and had a great time. Also, I would save the ponchos, like the dollar store kind for my stroller. I would put one on the inside and when you park the stroller (whether it is sunny or not) I would place the other one all the way around the stroller. I saw so many people uncomfortable in ponchos and I would definitely suggest the raincoats. But bottom line, you will have fun no matter what. We always had a great time, even in the rain.
