I am going to Disneyland and DCA next Monday and Tuesday and it calls for rain, rain and more rain!

Never really been there in the rain especially with a 4 year old. What should I bring? What will be closed? Which rides am I likely to get wet on? I even had a crazy ida of wearing waterproof ski pants! At least the crowds will be done, but not sure HOW to deal with it. What is going to be busier? Anything will be closed? Does that mean no parades?

HELP!

If you have rain gear, DL in the rain is really fun! One of our trips a few years back ended up being a rainy weekend, but we had full rain gear (rain pants and waterproof jackets) and had a fantastic time! All the rides were open, and you could pretty much walk right on anything that had an outdoor queue. It was actually the first time I had ever been on Dumbo- this was before we had kids, and I had never felt like waiting in line for it.

I'm not sure if the parades still run- someone else will have to answer that one.

If I had my choice, I would plan my trips during rain!

I would suggest an inexpensive rainproof jacket. Check the local thrift stores, or buy a rain poncho. I got one at Wal-Mart for around $5. Don't get the cheap $1 kind since your wearing it for the trip and it will get a lot of use. Make sure they have hoods. I live in Oregon where we see more rain than blue sky, and that is what we do. No umbrellas, they are cumbersome and annoying to carry around. Jackets with hoods work better.

If you bring ponchos, a few gallong size ziploc bags will come in handy when you want to store them and they are wet.

We had rain one day we went a few years ago. I remember the teacups were not running, but most other rides were. I think the parades will close too, but the crowds will be very light. Someone else might know better than me which rides they close down?

What are rain pants? Are they ski pants? Do you scotchguard a pair of workout type pants?

I am open to suggestions as I get cold easily and don't want to carry around too much spare clothing.

The rides that standardly close during rain are Alice and Teacups. If the rains get excessive, then they close other rides like Pooh and Autopia.

The parades will be canceled b/c of rain, but they do a Rainy Day Cavalcade which is basically a truck with lots of characters going down Main Street.

Ski pants would work, as long as they are waterproof (some aren't, figuring that you can brush the snow off before it melts). Otherwise, any sporting goods store should be able to help you out with rain gear- at the inexpensive end you can get vinyl rain pants & coats, which are somewhat bulky. At the higher end you could go Gortex (or equivalent), which would be lighter and easier to pack.

Have a great trip!
