Hi,

I am trying to pack light....and will be there Dec 3-10. Do they sell umbrellas/ panchos at gift shops or in the parks?

There are panchos at just about every shop in all the parks, and are one of the most reasonably priced items you can buy there...

Yeah, but you can get 2 ponchos for a buck at the dollar store and they are about the size of a deck of cards...no space at all...

They do sell small black umbrellas with Mickey on them at the parks and resorts - last time I bought one I believe it was about $10.

I agree with momsgoofy...we always buy the small dollar ponchos and take them with us. It's worth the extra baggage to us instead of paying alot more at the parks. They're very lightweight as well. Wal Mart and Target should have them as well. But hopefully you'll have sunny days! Have fun!! :sunny:

Another for bringing cheap ponchos! I get abut 3 per person from Target. They are tiny before opening. We toss them once we're done and return the ones we dont use. You wont be so inclined to throw out an "expensive' poncho that you buy there, so once the rain is gone, you'll still have the poncho to tote around.

I've never seen the poncho's from the Dollar store, but I have read a lot about them here. I have WDWoncho's which we bring every year. They fold up into the size of a Ziplock bag and they are also lightweight.
Yes when they are wet you need to set them out to dry. But we have used the same ones on 5 trips, so I have gotten my moneys worth for sure. And I like have Mickey on them! JMHO

Ditto on the ponchos. I get them at Walmart and then we use them for Kali River Rapids too! Last time we handed them off to another family who was asking where we got them!! They used them on the ride and were grateful!

Definitely bring ponchos from home. We saw them for sale at Kali River Rapids for $7!

Another reason to bring your own it that when it rains, ALL of the people in the park will be wearing the same color ponchos from the Disney shops.

It's nice to be able to find your party when it rains. With the Disney ponchos, your party blends in with everyone else.

If you have a Dollar Tree store in your area - they sell 2 ponchos in a bag for $1.00! They are about the size of 2 packs of purse tissues - look in the aisle where they sell hair accessories/rain bonnets.

Walmart sells similar ponchos - 1 per bag - for about 89 cents each. They are stocked in the sporting goods section at our local Walmart.

We had to purchase DW ponchos last Christmas and they take up way more space & cost at least 5-10x the price of these disposable ponchos. Plus, when your trip is over - you won't have to debate on whether to throw away your DW poncho just because it is from DW with a big Mickey on the back;o)

I now purchase 2 ponchos per person for about a 10 day trip to the World - just incase one gets ripped. They are VERY flimsy - but, do the job for a few days;o)

Like stated above, there are ponchos for sale everywhere at WDW. Finding one won't be a problem, it's knowing your paying more that will. Still, we have always bought our ponchos in the parks. One, we never seem to remember to buy them beforehand and pack them. Two, they have cute a Mickey Mouse on them with Walt Disney World scripted on the front.

We do what momsgoofy described above. We buy a number of the cheap dollar store ponchos and throw them away after using. This is cheap and save space.

Save buy the cheap ones. More money to spend on other things. :Pinkbounc

Does it rain that much to warrant carrying around a poncho the second week of Dec? We will be there for the weekend of the 10-12. I have two dollar store ponchos left from our June trip....better safe than sorry to pack them????
