How is rain forest cafe related to Disney? DH says it is not part of Disney.

As far as i know it is just a restaurant on the Disney Property with no other relation to Disney. Kind of like Wolfgang Puck. I could be wrong. There is one located at AK and DTD.

Rainforrest is not owned or partner to Disney. They simply have resturants in DTD, and AK. We are going to WDW for our upcoming honeymoon I don't think we will go to Rainforrest have not decided yet, but we have been to one in California. Your husband is right though Disney does not own or operate Rainforrest cafe. :bride: :groom:

He is correct, as others have said, RFC is owned by the Landry Restaurant chain, like Landrys Seafood and Joe's Crab Shack.
IMHO, the AK RFC has FAR better service than the DTD one. Very very slow at the DTD location, every time we have been, and others have said the same. Good food, we like it.

It is a chain. We have one in Baltimore area. We love their food and eat there reguarly at home. The one in Orlando is by far the nicest I have seen. I was also at one in Philadelphia and Chicago. I think you will like it. Ususally the food is wonderful.

We ate at RFC in DTD last Saturday. Our server was very nice, but verrry slow! The food was good, DD had a large enough portion of salmon to make a lunch out of it on Sunday. But we were seated in a table that was right in the intersection that all the servers had to walk through. Between getting jostled constantly :crowded: :duck: and them constantly screaming "Volcano" I don't think I'll go back (Volcano is a very large ice cream dessert. The servers have to holler "volcano" every time they serve it).

I've never had the volcano experience... :rotfl:

However, we have two RFCs that I know about here in Canada. One in Toronto and one in Niagara Falls (along with a Wolfgang Puck's - they must like big tourist destinations). I have to admit though... Canada doesn't carry the waffle fries that I have tried at the RFC in Chicago (so delicious!) and I haven't been to either at Disney because they seem to familiar...

Yeah the food is good, the one in cali the servers would vanish and we had to flag one down, other than that it is a fun place and the food is good for a themed venue like this ( A LOT better than Planet Hollywood). If you can get past the ever other min VALCANOOOOOO then I think you will enjoy it.

Straying from Disney for a moment, I started laughing when I read this. . . hd a flashback. I went to Vegas last year with my best friend and her mom and stepdad (their anniversary and friend's b-day celebration) I had a couple RFC gift cards, plus my safari club so we went for dinner one night. They'd never been to one before and thought it looked fun. At the one in Vegas, they actually use sparklers like in the picture (not the silver cat toys like the Disney ones use, LOL) and when the servers come out they all just yell "ahhhhhhhhh." We hadn't even ordered yet and friend's mom watched this happen and yells, "We HAVE to get that for dessert! I wanna yell! Ahhhhhhhh!" She ended up yelling along everytime they came out with one. She'd stop mid-sentence to yell "ahhhhhhh!"

So a little bit later they come out singing happy birthday to someone at a neary table and all they sing is "Happy birthday to you, cha cha cha!" So of course when we ordered dessert we made sure to let them know it was friend's b-day, just so her mom could sing "Happy birthday to you CHA CHA CHA!" I think we ended up randomly singing it the rest of the trip.

Oh and of course we had a lull waiting for our food, and I started making some relatively quiet animal sounds, LMAO. You know, monkeys, gorillas, etc. So my friend joins in making other animal noises. Her mom joins in. Her stepdad is looking around totally oblivious, so we're cracking up and slowly getting louder and louder to see how long it takes him to realize. We ended up hysterically laughing before he broke from his daze.

I can only imagine what people around us were thinking. I think we were slap-happy from the jet lag. I still laugh thinking about it. . . I'm sure my retelling doesn't do it justice.

I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion. We didn't realize that it wasn't Disney owned and operated until we got there, having none anywhere near us at home. Food was bad and the service was worse. Waited 20 minutes for drinks, and my wife's pizza tasted like one from a grocery store freezer. We couldn't get out of there and back into Disney proper fast enough. Afterwards I found out that not only was it not Disney owned, but it was a chain, it all made sense. It's a rare chain indeed where I find myself satisfied.

Just a tidbit - our towncar driver also works at RDC at DTD. She told us that when a hurricane threatens Disney, they do tend to close AK early (for the animals). If you have ressies at RFC at AK, they will send you over to the RFC at DTD. Thought that was interesting.

Sounds like you had a great time. Nice of you to take them.
