We would like to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe the day we arrive. Which of the locations is better, or are they the same?
Thanks for your help! Lisa

The one at AK seams less crowded to me.

I guess your answer will very depending on what time you arrive at Disney. I am not sure how late the Rainforest cafe is open at AK

The best luck with AK location both food and service was better.::yes:: :wave2:

Thanks for asking this question Lisa AF ::yes::

We always eat at RainForest on our first night at Disney, its become a tradition, and have always went to the one Downtown. We always make a PS and have never had a wait really---
But I would like to read some more feedback regarding the AK location.

So, I'll bump, bump, this to the front :yo-yo: :yo-yo: :yo-yo:

THanks for your help. We will be having a late lunch, about 2:00. Is there usually a wait with Priority Seating?

I asked this same question a few weeks ago and it seemed most people thought they were more or less the same. Unfortunately we didn't make it to either one this trip, so it's still a mystery to me. LOL
I did send off for the RFC card that guarantees you walk in priority seating and discounts though. ($15) Hopefully I'll get a chance to use it next trip.
So, is the decor exactly the same at both restaurants? I just can't believe it would be that way--it seems that the Downtown Disney one would be "better" or fancier when it comes to that, but I would expect the AK location to have better service since it is more out of the way, especially at dinnertime when the AK is closed. For that matter, are all RFC the same the world over?

Does anyone know if the Ak one is open after the park closes for dinner , since Ak closes do early?

I would agree. The one at the AK is usually less crowded. The one at DTD can be a mad house!!!
ADP :D

Don't know if RC's are the same all over the world, but the two in WDW sure look a lot like the two in Illinois.

chamonix...You'll love the Safari Club! It is SOOO worth it! They will also send you coupons a few times throughout the year. I recommend it to everyone!

We usually visit the RFC at DD for our first night every trip. I think it tends to have more atmosphere. There seems to be alot of park visitors just walking through the one at AK, and I think that would be disturbing.

I'm probably a little biased towards the one at DD anyway. I did my WDWCP at the "Village" and I love the atmosphere of the area! ::yes::

which looks just like the one in our local mall.

It's a chain restaurant...it's going to look relatively the same (depend on space-constraints) pretty much any which one you go to.

I think they're both similar enough that it doesn't matter. The day we had lunch at the AK RFC it was mobbed and they were telling those w/o PS's that it was a 90 minute wait.

If you go with the DD location, you can call now and make a PS as they accept reservations up to one year in advance. If you decide to try the AK, you can make a PS 90 days out.

disneyfan551, do you feel like the Safari Club card has gotten you seated without a PS faster than the other people who are waiting? To be honest, that is the main reason I got it, I hate to plan PS times, and thought the card would get us seated faster. (It claims that is a perk of the card--to be seated at the next available table before those without the card).
Are you seated quickly with the card? I wish that we had made it last week to the RFC for dinner, they already had sent me a $10 off coupon, but it might expire before we get back there this summer. (there aren't any near where I live)
thanks!

Most definitely we have saved time with the card! Our original walk-up wait was 1-1/2 hrs., then when I arrived with my card, it became 10-15 minutes! I highly recommend it! The coupons are great, but I like to order the free appetizer. Their dishes are so large, we usually split a meal, to have room for dessert later. Last time we went, we had all intentions of doing this again, but the free quesadilla app. that I ordered was even more than I could eat for my whole meal! We will be doing this again next month... ;)

I just called and the woman said you can buy your membership when you arrive at the restaurant. I guess they sell them in the gift area. Good news is that you can use the benefits right then and there!

Yes, the woman on the phone kept insisting that I should just buy it there, but part of why I want the card was to make our visit to the RFC smooth and easy, quick and painless. The last thing I wanted to do was to deal with signing up when I arrive for dinner, you know? I'm sure it's easy, but it was just as easy for me to mail them a check and receive my card before I left home. They also sent coupons of course. If you have one near your home, it might be easiest to go over and get one there before leaving for WDW. Unfortunately, I live in the sticks and we don't have an RFC for hundreds of miles, lol.

We signed up during an Easter trip at the store next to the restaurant. We were able to get the free appetizer but our coupon (I think $10) arrived in the mail with our permanent membership card and we used that during our summer trip. The coupon had an expiration date. So if you want the coupon for your trip, I would suggest signing up before you go. We have not received any coupons or mailings since. I'm curious as to the other coupons people are referring to.
