Is it worth the OOP money to go there?!? We have a 4 and 7 year old and thought it would be neat, but is it worth it when you do the dining meal, because it is not on the plan!

We have been to DW 5 times and have eaten at the one by Animal Kingdom because there are no really good set down restaurants there. We loved it but I got the dining plan this time so we are not going to eat there. There are just too many other places to try that will be paid for already!! Someone reported that the cost at Rainforest has went way up. I haven't checked into it. That said, your kids would enjoy it and if your just looking for another restaurant to add to your dining plan, I'd go for it!!

It's a fun place to eat and the food is very good. The kids will like it. We're also on dining plan and have ADR at Rainforest for our first night in WDW. With the way my meal planning worked out we still had to pay for dinner one night anyway.

Just question, not flame :)

Why would you want to go to a chain restaurant that you can go anywhere else? Rain Forest Cafe is all over the place (in major tourist trap areas).

We don't have one near us (the nearest being 5 1/2 hours away in D.C. where we never visit anyway). So to us, it is part of the Disney experience as that is the only one we ever visit (and I'm sure there are other people out there who don't have a RFC near their hometown either).

Maybe they do not have one near them. They really aren't as all over the place as you might think.

We have 2 rainforest cafes in our area that we go to. But we still eat there while at WDW. There are lots of reasons. One is that we like the food. (I like other Disney food too.) Two is that we used to get Rainforest Cafe gift certificates from MyPoints Rewards Program for free, so it was a way to cut down on expense. Three is we are in the Safari Club and get free appetizer and priority seating. Four is there is no sit down place in AK besides Rainforest Cafe. Five is the VOLCANO! My kids love it.

Although, if I were on the dining plan, I probably wouldn't pay extra to eat there. If I were planning on paying OOP for one meal anyway, then I might do it. Maybe do it the night you arrive??

Not worth it in my opinion. There are so many better options.

I wouldn't - esp since you already have so many paid for. I'd save it for another trip to WDW or a trip to someplace else that has them.

When we went in July, it was included in our plan... Are you sure that it's not included?

I would say it's a great place for your kids, and the theming is great. DO NOT expect AMAZING cuisine, because you'll be disappointed. Go into it with the knowledge that you are, in reality, paying for the restaurant's theme, and you'll be ok. We ate there at the urging of my DH, who had never eatten there before and wanted to while we were in Vegas. I was not excited, but, I chose every other place, so he got to choose that one.

Good luck!!! Have a great trip!

A favorite of my DH's too. He even found the one in Niagara Falls when we got married. So romantic. LOL :rotfl: I think little kids love it. We have one near us but I have also eaten at the one there for many of the reasons Maggiew outlined. Safari Club Members, not many TS choices at AK,themeing is enjoyable for kids, even big ones like DH who LOVES the rainshowers every 1/2 hour.;)

I have free dining and I think that it is an even better reason to go to Rainforest Cafe!!! Since we are getting the majority of our meals free-- and are doing 2 breakfasts so we will be paying oop at times anyway I figured paying for this 1 meal is fine! My 2 dd's will love it-- the theme can't be beat for animal lovers and I never found the prices any more unreasonable than other disney resturants-- the menu with prices is on all ears!! We are going to the one @ AK and they do accept Priority Seatings!! Your kids will love  it !! I say give it a try! By the way there is nothing like RC near my house in PA so it really is a special treat for us!! :wave2:

It's not listed in the brochure. I swore I saw it in there at one time, but Disney sent me a link to the brochure yesterday, and I can't find it.

And Lucincia, there's no RC in my entire state! :rotfl: Where do you live that you're finding them "everywhere?" :teeth:

we really enjoyed our brkfst there although tusker house is good also

we also don't have one nearby and thought it was fun. we belong to the safari club so the coupons/offers are great.

we got the lobster for lunch and split it and were stuffed ( used a kvl voucher so the same basic deal as the free dining appe, entree, dessert, drink) plus got the safari club appe..we rolled around ak for the rest of the day!

can you use the safari club or bd/ann. coups. and my points for the same meal or are they both considered "offers"( don't think you can use sc and coups together but we could use sc and kvl vouchers and wonder which would apply to my points)

any one ever heard of the little known chain MCDONALD'S that i see people eating at wdw ?????

I am planning to go to the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney our 1st night there. I have always wanted to go there I hear it is fantastic and I anticipate it being well worth the money. Also it frees up another dining day so you can go to one that takes 2 points. I recommend the California Grill or the Coral Reef to fill the space. No money lost.

I have never been to one and where I live there isn't one close by. I am looking forward to going there and for me it is worth the OOP.

Bride2Be - were you on the premium package and not the dining add on? RFC is included in the premium plan(can't wait to eat there in 2 weeks) but is not an option for the basic dining add on. There aren't too many restaurants that aren't included under both, but this is one of them.

We used the VKL vouchers and the safari club benefits. We used one adult and one kid voucher for the 4 of us, plus free appetizer.

I am pretty sure you can use the safari benefits and the my points gift card because the Mypoints reward is just a Gift CArd and not a coupon.
