Hello! We just bought a City Mini GT Double and am getting some accessories for our trip in September. I'd like a rain cover, but have read not so great things about the CMGTD cover, particularly in heat. Does anyone have experience with it? I know this is a commonly rented stroller. Does anyone know what rain covers come with those rentals?

We have a City Mini GT and a raincover. The rain cover works very well. However, it can get really hot with the raincover on the stroller. We usually open the zipper part a bit to allow airflow for the kids if it isn't raining too hard. They hate the raincover, but it keeps them dry. Typically, the rented strollers do come with raincovers or at least the option of adding a raincover, but it depends on the company. If you are thinking of renting, check their policies.

How old are your kids? Is putting them in ponchos and pulling the stroller umbrella over an option or are they too little?

We have a different stroller, but our cover was stolen off of our double stroller in May. Kind of a bummer. We ended up putting the kids (3 and a few months short of 2) in ponchos and buying extra ponchos to tie over the stroller when we were on rides etc.

Just wanted to give the heads up that those rain covers look very attractive to people who didn’t think to bring them and don’t have a problem stealing other people’s things. We don’t leave valuables in the stroller ever but I didn’t think our rain cover would be stolen!

Just a heads up. This is not something I considered when I brought a nice cover.

We had a joovy double stroller that we took on several trips. We never bought a specific raincover for it for exactly the reason mentioned above, theft. We either used a poncho or shower curtain purchased from the dollar store and 3-4 chip clips to clip it to the stroller. Works well and if it gets ruined or stolen, you've invested about $3. It makes the stroller easy to find if you use a bright poncho too.

The OEM cover works well, we have it. It gets hot in there so we always have a stroller fan in there to keep the air flowing and the temps down. It has double zips so you can slide them around d yo the side and have it open. This with the fan makes a good air flow and keeps the temps manageable. Just be sure to wipe down the cover after use or else the clear plastic eventually will go foggy.
