Do any of you know a budget alternative for a rain cover? Baby Jogger's rain cover is about $50 and I don't want to spend that much. We'll probably only need it a day or two at most. I've seen many suggest a poncho, but I don't know if that would do so well with a side by side stroller...

Thanks!

I did find one by Google search that is sold on Walmart.com. It is $25, but it is technically designed for the Baby Trend dougle jogger. Someone did ask if it fits other strollers, but no one answered the question. There were also several reviews that stated the cover ripped after a few uses.

I have found that with baby products the accessories for a product tend to be priced similar to the product itself. The Baby Jogger City Mini double retails for $400 IIRC, so $50 is what I'd expect unfortunately.

A google search also revealed a link to a listing on Amazon of a place selling the BJCM double cover for $34.95, however, shipping is an additional $9.

Here is the link.

You mention only using it one or 2 days, but if you own the stroller the rain cover could get a lot more use. Even if it isn't raining it could also keep wind away from the children.

I figure you own the stroller because if renting, OSR charges $10 additional to the rental fee for the cover.

How old are the children? One alternative depending on their ages would be to have them wear ponchos. I wish my son was big enough for a poncho. He hated it when I put the stroller cover on.

I imagine with the Baby Jogger City Mini it's possible you may be able to use 2 individual ponchos, since it has two individual shades, but you might have to get creative with attaching it at the bottom. Honestly, the only time a poncho really worked on my son's stroller was if I had a short distance to walk, like just to get into a building and I fought the wind. If there is wind, you'd have to get kind of creative to keep it from blowing away if you planned to use it when the stroller is parked.

I wish you the best.

Hi! Thanks for the info. We do own the stroller and love it. We've had it for 2 years now and it's awesome. Our children are 5 and 2, so they could wear ponchos/raincoats. I doubt we'd use a cover at home as the main times we use it at home are if we all go to the mall together. They walk everywhere else. My main concern is the stroller's seats getting wet. I have some unopened ponchos, maybe I'll open a pack and see what I can do. I did call Orlando Stroller Rentals about renting just the covers, but they don't do that. They do have a store close to WDW, so we are thinking about just watching the weather while we are there and running to the store for a cover if there's a need.

And the seats getting wet is a valid concern for sure.

I rented a single for our first trip and did not cover it when we went in to Crystal Palace to eat. It poured while we were in there and since I was alone with my children I could not run out to cover it. It was useless the rest of the night and I had to use the blow dryer in the resort room to get it ready to use the next day. Thankfully I had my Ergo carrier and could wear my son or my arms would have been really sore the next day.

I imagine though just covering the seats might be a bit easier than trying to cover the entire thing, so your ponchos might work.

I love that stroller too. We like to get out to different places and we have a 10 day trip coming next summer, so I'm probably going to get my son his own City Mini soon. The rain cover for the single is $39 so I feel your pain, but when I was looking to respond to your post, I saw that the Babies R Us brand jogger cover is $15. I looked, but for some reason they don't make one for a double. :confused3

Have fun on your trip.

I also have the one mentioned above and although not a perfect fit it does indeed keep the seat dry. The foot rest does get some water in it but for the $35 dollar price difference it is not a big deal for my family.

We just bought a generic one from Amazon.com for $10. Look up Double Jogging Stroller Rain Cover (by Comfy baby.) It has FREE shipping!
