When we rented EC's in Florida, they came with a warning not to use them in rain. Since rainstorms often come up while you're inside a restaurant or a ride and you still need to get the ECV back to the hotel, how wet can they get before it's a real problem?

If it's pouring rain I would not go. If you splash through water and it gets in the battery area it can be a big problem. Be sure and cover the "tiller" part (where you steer) with a plastic bag. I get a BIG one from Disney and then use office-style alligator clips to cinch it down so it can't blow off. The two main areas to be concerned with are the tiller and the battery.

I personally have never had a problem in the rain with my personal scooter, but I always travel with 2 things that are ready at the first drop of rain. I carry something to cover the tiller (the most important thing to cover), and I carry a poncho to cover me and the rest of the scooter. With these 2 things and as long as I watch that I don't go threw deep puddles, I have never had a issue. Just be sure to dry everything as soon as you get back to your room.

I have driven mine in some heavy rain I do the same I have bags in my back pack I put over the tiller and a big poncho for me that covers the scooter and I just avoid the puddles also

Thanks. We'll pack our plastic next time we plan on playing at the parks. 8^)

If you rent one of the Pride Go Go scooters, I have found that one of those free shower caps you receive in some hotels works perfectly to cover the tiller. I have learned to cover my scooter with a raincoat when I have to leave it. In Florida you never know when it will rain!

where you can park the scooter away from the open and protected from the rain. You have to look sometimes for these areas, but they are there. This helps out about 25% of the time.

There are ways you can use a poncho that will cover you and the scooter (depending on size of scooter).

I bought some light weight plastic at Walmart's fabric department for .97 cents per yard. Also got the sticky backed velcro. Will be custom fitting to my scooter tiller and battery area. Like a raincoat for a scooter. Also have used plastic bags over the controller and poncho's to cover everything else.
