Rain all week.....prep tips?

I hate GCH when it’s raining. Everyone wants to be there and it gets really loud.
There are plenty of places to hide at the Grand if you know where to go. There are mini-lobbies on many of the higher floors that are great. I also love the craftsman quick service as a hiding spot and great place to get food.

Love the recommendation of the Ziploc bags. We have kind of switched over to the Target generic brand of the slider storage bags and the 1 gal and 2.5 gal versions are awesome. We always keep a few folded up in our park bags.

When we had rain filled week last year we were fine with layers and compact umbrellas. There were lots of breaks in the rain. DCA seems to have better places to sit and warm up vs DL. Compare the Starbucks on Main Street vs the One in DCA. I think the DCA one has way more seats inside. We did swap out for fresh socks at least once during more damp days which was very helpful.

I find that even in the upper level mini lobbies there is a constant roar from the lobby, at least when there are holiday level crowds. To me it’s just an annoying noise. Our next long trip we’ve reserved a 1 bedroom suite to have a quiet place to hang out.

It's not like that most of the times I go, which is about 3-4 times a year. But yes, December is always crowded and busy becayse they have carolers, Santa, the giant Christmas tree, piano player, giant gingerbread house etc and tons of people there to see it all and enjoy the holiday goodies. But I like to sit in the 3rd floor lobby in Dec and the noise doesn't bother me because I love to hear the music.

Other than that, I don't really notice noise from below, but maybe that's because I'm hanging out with my sister or friends and we're busy chatting. And possibly drinking wine.

I got a question re: rain ponchos. For thsoe of you that purchased/used the disposable type, which brand do you recommend and where did you get them? Thanks!

We get ours from the Dollar Tree. The brand changes throughout the year. Walmart typically has similar cheap brands.

They are definitely disposable. We don't normally get more than one use out of them. We have the DLR ponchos that we've had forever but they are such a pain in the butt to pack around once wet.

I bought a thick reusable one, the problem is once you have to start taking it off and on again, it gets wet inside.

The nice thing about the thicker one is that it didn't float up ( anyone else notice that?) , it had a weight to it. It also had long sleeves, went to my knee, & it buttoned in the front which meant no pulling over your head!

I haven't been in the rain in ages unless you count the freakish rainstorm that caused major issues a few years ago.

We live in western Washington and deal with rain constantly. My plan is to bring a good raincoat and lots of socks. Is there anything I'm missing?

Well we went last month in the rain and did okay with raincoats and extra socks. I'm not gonna lie though. I'm bummed it's supposed to rain this trip too. I said in an earlier comment that we are from Western Washington and are used to it. While I might be used to it I definitely don't like taking up suitcase space with a raincoat and extra clothes. I know I'm just lucky to be going but man I am hoping they are wrong with the forecast.

On a positive note, wait times today are a fraction of what they have been this past month.
