My family and I are trying to decide between Rose and Crown and Ragland Road. Our party will consist of my husband and I (35 and 26 respectively) and his daughter 16 and my sister 19. I would like to hear both the good and the bad of each if anyone has any input.

Well, I've been to both, although I haven't been to R&C since they opened Raglan Road. This has become my family's favorite place. We like to go later in the evening, never had trouble getting a table, and if we do we sit at the bar. We enjoy the food and you can't beat the atmosphere and music. It can get loud, but if you like Irish music it's great.

We are going again in a few weeks and will celebrate my husband's birthday while we are there.

RR. The food is better.

Unless, of course, you are planning a late dinner. Then you might want to think about R&C and sitting outside during Illuminations. I haven't done this in a long time, so I don't know if they'd let you request outdoor seating.

I've been to both and Raglan Road is by far my favorite of the two. I found the food to be better and while not as quaint, the atmostphere is still cozy although in a much larger space. Plus, and I don't mean this to be cruel or anything I just find it odd, does anybody else think Rose and Crown smells a bit like old Play-Doh? :confused3

Gosh, I guess I'm in the minority here. We had a terrible dining experience at Ragalan Road last year! I ordered fish and chips and they were barely lukeward, and kind of soggy. Plus, it was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other at all! Worst meal of our trip last year.

But we might have had an isolated bad experience - apparently, it's lots of people's favorite restaurant!

Thanks for all the quick responses!! I was leaning towards RR due to their menu seeming so much bigger with more choices. Are they still included on the DDP?

In my experience, the food is far better at Raglan Road with the exception of the fish & chips (my mother got them and she didn't like them).

Raglan Road does take DDP and DDE.

Of the 2, we would say RR as well.

Raglan Road for the menu variety and evening entertainment - the band is great!

We've been disappointed in the incredible shrinking menu at Rose and Crown, which used to be a "must-do" for us on every WDW trip. Last October when we saw just how pared down the menu was we canceled our ADR and just got fish & chips from Harry Ramsden's little place (quite tasty, by the way!).

Anyhoo ... definitely Raglan Road. :thumbsup2

PS. Thanks to MadamMim, on our next visit to WDW I will now have to make a point of walking into R&C and sniffling noticeably in order to detect the Play-Dohodor she refers to. :rotfl2: Thanks a lot, Mim!

I am overwhelmed at all of the responses in such a short amount of time.

And thanks Brenda...I've been a lurker on many of your dining reports and I'm always impressed!

What time does the entertainment usually start? We will be there on Monday May 26th (also mine and DH's 1 year wedding anniversary!)

Raglan Road is our new favorite restaurant! Followed by Cali Grill and Le Cellier...definitely try Raglan! :thumbsup2

I am 'half' irish and would love to go to Raglan Road. We have several authentic irish restaurants/taverns in Louisville, and would like to see how they compare. The Rose and Crown looks lovely also, especially the atmosphere at the WS in Epcot. As a vegetarian, how do they compare? Hubby loves his 'fish and chips' so he will eat at either. Is there entertainment at the Rose, like there is at RR?

Rose and Crown used to be my favorite pick, hands down. But the quality has really gone downhill over the past few years. They've cut the menu to practically nothing and what they do serve isn't all that well-prepared.

However, we've eaten at Raglan Road about 3 times now, and have never had a bad meal there. :thumbsup2

We don't care for The Rose & Crown at all but we LOVE Raglan Road! Make sure you have Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding for dessert if you go there - it is truly like heaven in your mouth!:goodvibes
