We'd like to do a dinner around 6:30 so that we can eat but still catch some of the band (the band starts at 8pm, right?).... do you think this is a suitable idea with kids? We have a large group and none of the kids are under 5....

I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

Thanks!

Hey,

We haven't been yet but are going in October with the kids. Our ARD is for 8PM. Most places are okay for kids. I know mine will love the dancers!!! Give it a try!!

Your 6:30 plan is fine (and I believe the band played at 8:00 during our last trip). We usually try for closer to 7:00, so we can see more of the band's set. But, we haven't been during a busy season really, so we have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated.
Our girls are 4 and 5, and they both liked sticking around for the music.

The one time we ate at Raglan Road, it was about 4:30, and the waitress didn't want to work. Yes, they have a children's menu, but I felt that they resented the presence of DD6. Frankly, the food wasn't good enough for us to try it again.

We went in Sept. 06 with DD7, and had a great meal. We were able to get ADRs that day (for 8 p.m.-we eat late) with no problem. DD7 loved the kid's chicken and the butterscotch sundae was delish! Same sauce as the bread 'n butter pudding! :cloud9: The band was playing when we arrived and we asked to be seated as far away as possible. We were, and it was nice-we were able to talk over the band and still see the girl dancing on the bar (a little). I had the It's Not Bleedin' Chowder and it was so good-I plan on getting it again. :goodvibes

Food was good, kids were welcome, and we're returning this Sept. :goodvibes

Fantastic! I didn't realize there were any dancers!!? Can anyone explain this to me? My DD7 used to aspire to being an Irish step dancer.

I'm starting to think I should call and see if I can push us a little later...

Thank you all for your help!

Last year we took our DS15, DS4 & DD1. They enjoyed the music. We liked it so much we have ADR's again this year! Can't wait!:cool1:Last year we did a walkin around 7pm. This yr's ADR is 8pm. I know it'S LATE BUT WE CAN ENJOY MORE OF IT. OOPS! DD hit caps lock.

Last year, DS10 and DD8 loved it! The dancer is pretty easy on the eyes and that didn't go unnoticed by DS - even though he wouldn't admit it - he hardly took his eyes off her and DD still talks about the entertainment. They were able to sit at the platform where the dancer performed - and our table was right in front of the band. We enjoy Irish music and the kids are very familiar with it. It was noisy, but entertaining. We also enjoyed the food and had a fantastic server who was great with the kids and very attentive, even with it being very busy - he didn't miss a beat. We will definitely go back...

lazydazy: There were plenty of kids there the night we went--including a few sitting at the bar!!!
There is one dancer, who comes out from time to time and step-dances atop a platform. It's not a continual sort of thing--.

Does the dancer only come out when the band is on? I am asking, b/c I wonder if we'll get more of an experience by going a little later?

I did not like this place at all. First of all, its the farther thing from an irish pub you can find. Secondly, we waited 45 minutes without once being approached by a server. Third, its a meat market- although this was later in the evening, around 830

I'm glad I saw this thread. We will be down in Disney in 2 weeks and will be taking our kids (ages 7, 6 & 2) to Raglan Rd for a 7 pm ADR. I didn't even realize about the entertainment. That will be an added enjoyment for us. I will be sure to report how it all goes with my kids as I will be doing a kid friendly dining review.

Lazydazy:
She comes out when the band is on. But the band is on a lot w/o her--.

The band will play a few songs, then she comes out for a few minutes, they play a few more, and so on. We were there like 9pm-11pm and they played most of it, with maybe a half hour break in there. Depends on where you tend to bring your kids but ours loved it. It is a bit loud, but we found the beer and food to be very good and the entertainment only added to it. Supposedly the dancer used to perform in The Lord of the Dance and was very good. I think the entertainment is supposed to start at 8pm.

Here's a link to their site, though it's a bit sparse: http://www.raglanroadirishpub.com/flash_site.html

I have to say that our experience was awful. I took my two kids to Raglan Road for dinner. The service was lousy and the music and entertainment were dire. All the people beside us in the alcove were complaining or sticking their fingers in their ears to cut out the din. The entertainer wasnt even trying. He was alternating between Scarborough Fair and What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor so often I thought my ears would either drop off or melt. It was August and the air con was malfunctioning too. All in all it was an awful experience and we were just glad to make our escape. I have to say the food was quite good but the portions were small. I wont be back.
