I'm trying to decide on where to go for a nice, but not $$$$$ solo dinner on my upcoming 1st ever solo trip. I'm doing the Backstage Magic tour on my first day and won't be doing the parks afterwards, so I've been checking out outside of the parks menus for dinner...I found this on the Raglan Road menu....

Posh Pan Chicken - Pan roasted chicken breast sauteed in garlic, olive oil, a suggestion of chili and over so slightly glazed with an Irish cider cream sauce. Served with sauteed vegetables $17.95

and it sounds yummy, but I'm wondering if Raglan Road is somewhere I'd feel comfortable as a solo? I'm don't drink, so I'm not much into bars. Is Raglan more of a bar or restaurant?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated too .... I don't do seafood though.

I've done Raglan Road solo and I enjoyed it. The food was good and there was enough going on in the restaurant to keep me entertained. I've also had good solo meals at ESPN Club and the Wave. Have fun pondering all og your options!

Hi Lisa!

I've eaten solo at Raglan Road and enjoyed it very much. I did sit at the bar once and found it rather crowded. Second time I sat at a table.

If you are DTD, hop the ferry over to SSR, The Turf Club has decent food, reasonably priced and a comfortable place for a solo.

If you want to splurge, Flying Fish at Boardwalk and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge both have counters where you can sit and watch the chefs cook. I love FF solo. The chefs are great to talk to and really make sure you're enjoying the meal.

I love going to Diney solo. I get to do thing that I want to do on my time schedule. The Backstage Magic Tour is super!

Thanks for the info Kathy! I might check out the Turf Club. I've never been to SSR, so I could check that out too.

I'll be eating in the parks mostly, I'm eager to try out some of the places in Epcot, but wasn't sure what to do that night after the BSMT.

Also Calif Grill has a few seats in front of kitchen which are great fun alone. Big River on the Boardwalk is ok as a solo, lots of people watching. Kona for dinner or the sushi bar nearby are other options.

I'll have to remember Jiko as a solo, only been there with friends.

I really like sitting at the bar, even when I'm not drinking ("when on earth is that???" you may ask...and I'm not telling!). The service is incredible, and it's easy to strike up conversations with the server and other patrons, if you've a mind to. I love House of Blues at the bar in the back, I love Portobello (okay, I drank there, not ate, but I saw others eating), The Wave is pretty comfortable at the bar, even if the food wasn't all that.

I had a great meal at Kona, sat at a table as you walk in to the right, great service, amazing crab cakes! The time before this that I was there, though, my server was indifferent and my table by the kitchen, so I kept getting bumped as servers rushed past. Just do NOT let them seat you by the kitchen!

I've done buffets solo, but always feel a little odd...like if I get up, they're going to clear away all my stuff. I do it anyway, because I KILL for a Boma meal, but it's the least comfortable option to me.

Honestly, there are few places I won't go solo.

If the weather is nice, take a leisurely stroll over to SSR. There is a path that starts at Westside, to the right of Cirque du Soleil. It will take you directly to to SSR. About a 20 minute stroll or a brisker 15 minute walk.

If you feel like walking even more, after lunch (or dinner), continue walking in the same direction through SSR and out to Buena Vista Dr. The path will take you to DTD Marketplace.

Mindy, be sure to let Val & I know the next time you're going down there solo - you might have company!!!

BTW, apparently you weren't working at your 2nd (or is it 3d) job tonight.

Which job was that? I'm actually only working this one at the moment...I'm waiting for the call back on the other one.

Ahh, which one is this one? Nevermind - I was talking (typing?) about CVS.
