Hi Everyone,
We're thinking of staying at the Radisson in Sept. (9-13) and am looking for some feedback on the hotel. We were quoted a price of around $1600 for 3 (husband and 2 year old), including airfare, 4-park flex ticket and a few extras. How does this sound? We're flying from Newark, NJ. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Maureen

If you are talking about the Radisson Twin Towers (or Radisson Universal , the name changed), I've heard almost all positive comments. It's as close as you can get to the parks without staying on site (which you may also want to check out, it can be cheaper than you'd think). I know Molokai Gram has stayed there before (I think she has at least) so I'm sure she will pop in and give you a quick review. The rate you got for the complete package sounds great!

Jim

Aloha,

Jim is right, I have stayed there in 12/99 and Robin has stayed there too and we both were very pleased.

Of course, my stay was before Hard Rock Hotel and the Front of the Line access you get when staying there or at the Portifino. Personally, I would now stay only on-site so I can get FOTL access.

But the Radisson Twin Towers was very very nice. The room was actually larger than the one we had at the HRH. We had a room facing the opposite side from Universal, overlooking a canal...and we saw beautiful sunrises.. the room had two queen size beds and a table and chairs and sofa (not sure if was a sleeper sofa - we had no need to try it out). The back wall (facing the canal was all window and our grandchildren liked to sit and watch the ducks in the canal. There was still lots of floor space for our two small grandsons to play.

The opposite wall was the mirrored closet that had a safe and ironing board and iron. The bathroom was large too. There was a pool and a kids pool and kids play area, but we did not use them.

They had restaurants, but we ate at the parks. I seem to remember Pizza Hut or something similar too. The lobby was very nice and surprise, they had a Disney store too???

Best for me personally, was the staff. Our last night we had eaten at the NBA Cafe and I broke a tooth on the food. NBA was not helpful and after a night of pain I asked the front desk for help. They were so nice...they helped me find an emergency dentist, told me not to worry about checkout, just to take care of my tooth...and were so nice. It means alot when people show compassion and help when you are in pain and thousands of miles from home. We were not charged for late checkout. While I was at the dentist, they asked my husband if they could do anything more?!

I have stayed in a lot of hotels, but this is the first time I wrote a letter commending the staff. They were terrific.

Also, they have a free shuttle to Universal and if you do not want to wait, it cost $3 by cab and took less than 5 minutes.

So if you do not stay onsite, you picked the best offsite hotel, IMHO.

BTW we paid $600 forthe Universal package of three nights hotel and 3 days parks tickets for two adults and two children (3 and 8) in 1999. So you seem to have gotten a pretty good price since it inluded air fare. I got a 10% discount with the Universal Fan Club card.

Have a wonderful time.

Donna

Pricing your package separately would look like this:

$562.50 ($187.50 x 3 tickets (lowest roundtrip airfare for your dates from http://www.itn.com on Continental Airlines))

$516 ($129 x 4 nights at http://www.Radisson.com)

$326 (2 adults 4-park Flex tickets from http://www.ticketmania.com, 2 year old is free)

$1404.50, Approx. $200 less than booking your package.

In fact if you can book the Hard Rock Hotel for the $117 Entertainment rate, your total cost will be even less plus you will have Front of the line access and be on-site! Call 1-800-23-LOEWS and find out if they have the Entertainment rate for your dates!

You won't be disappointed with the Radisson. You can take my word for it as I stayed (or lived) there for a month last October for a pharmaceutical training.

Very convenient & excellent staff.

Enjoy:p

Thanks so much everyone. And thanks too to Jon 360. Because of your research, I think we're now going to stay at the HRH and do exactly what you said. He got the $117.50 entertainment rate. One question though: about airport transfers ... should I do this myself too?
Thanks again,
Maureen

If you want airport transfers with a shared van service, you can goto the Mears counter at the airport when you arrive. From the baggage claim area take the elevator down. You do not need an advance reservation.

If you want private transportation which would be more expensive, check out: http://www.tiffanytowncar.com
