Regarding the Radisson at Port Canaveral -- it looks like a nice hotel, but I'm wondering if there is anything in walking distance?

We'll be arriving the day before the cruise at about 7 PM. Any good restaurants near the hotel, etc.? We won't have a rental car.

Kris

According to my Streets and Trips, there is a McDonald's, A subway, and a Zachary's Family resturant all right next to the hotel.

There was a pretty decent restaurant in the hotel and there was pizza delivery available. There was something across the street that you could walk to - maybe a McD's? I can't remember...

Thanks guys -

That's good to know!

When we were in Miami in March, our hotel was not near *anything*! It was awful.

So didn't want to have to go through that experience again. The Radisson looks like a nice place and I love that you can see the cruise ships from the hotel - cool!!

They have a McDonalds across the street and a very good pizza place next door. The food at the hotel is also quite nice.Bon appetit!!! :mickeybar :cool1:

We loved the Radison. The pool was fabulous and the atmosphere was very tropical. Fun to start you vacation a day early. Kelsey's is the pizza/Italian restaurant right next door. We had dinner there and enjoyed it. We went to Zacharys for breakfast and it was fine also. It was exciting to wake up Sat morning and see the ships from the hotel!!!

There is a breakfast buffet at the hotel in the morning that's really good. We had a car so we drove for food the night before

Highly recommend Zachary's and Kelsey's (we ate there in January) Also ate at the hotel for the buffett breakfast (very pricy IMO) and we ate at Subway and McD's!

If you want to be within walking distance of things, don't stay at the Radisson, stay near the beach. I have stayed at both places, and except for the pool, there is really very little to say for the Radisson. Plus, if it turns cold, the outdoor pool is not so great.

Cocoa Beach has many shops, real ocean front family-type restaurants, the beach the pier, and best yet - the ocean. The Radisson has a parking lot. and Mcdonalds. Kelsey's is good for pizza, but not worth staying at the Rad. And you can barely see the ship in the morning from the public areas and few people have a room that has the view. It is only a few minutes longer by taxi from a beach hotel, and the prices are more competitive than the Radisson.

See Dave's site, www.dcltribute.com for suggestions and links to local hotels.

It hasn't been mentioned that the rooms at the Radisson are large, too. The pool is great and as someone mentioned the cruise ships can be seen from the hotel -- a great way to wake up the morning of your cruise!

The Italian restaurant next door is really good, so a car shouldn't be necessary.

ITA on the rooms at the Radisson are fabulous! We had a suite the 3 nights we stayed there (2 pre-cruise and 1 post cruise) and with 6 of us we did not feel crammed at all! There was a nice kitchen area that we ate our McD' and Subway take-out at and 2 T.V.'s was nice for bedtime. We toured down to the Pier area (Radisson shuttle for free!) but I was very unimpressed with the area, I did see plenty of hotels on the beach but I did not see any restaurants around (maybe we were in the wrong area). My kids loved the Radisson and the pool area and it was cold when we were there in January, but the pool was heated and it was a lot warmer than home!
